We had the good fortune of connecting with Sasha Turner-Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sasha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My Thought process behind Blackruby is a Beauty Brand. I am all for the natural glam. So I used my resources to give you the most natural luxury feeling while receiving service. I also strive to used to most natural hair products, I want to give people a Spa Experience.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a Hair Stylist, that has been doing hair pretty much my entire life. Majority of my Clients consists of people with locs. I enjoy Locs and all that comes with them. I am expanding my brand to microlinks/I-Tips/Braidless Sew-In. I am Very excided about this and all that is to come with this new venture. I have had many challenges throughout my life with hair and have tried several other businesses ventures but Hair is my life. Throughout out these challenges I have learned so many lessons, But the most important one was ” adapt well to change” because life is filled with it. One thing I want people to know about me is that you should love what you do and love the people that love you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would go to brunch first. Maybe Nouveau Bar and Grill. Then we would maybe go shopping. I Might take her by Get it GRL Boutique.
Then take her by the Madam CJ Walker Museum, where we could hang and visit for a while.
Then Maybe go down to The Battery Atlanta.
To do indoor Skydiving, eat again and get the night life vibe. If she wants a real night life experience then we would go to Oak night club, and drop her off at her Airbnb. lol

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my mom. She’s been so supportive the past few years and honestly I wouldn’t be where I am without her.
