We had the good fortune of connecting with Sasha Melbourne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sasha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
For as long as I can remember, my dream was to be an entrepreneur and make a positive contribution to the world. As an athlete for most of my life, being mentally and physically fit was always important. I fell in love with body care and all natural products during my senior year in high school largely through the influence of my parents and social media. I learned the benefits of using mother nature’s gifts to create amazing products that are so much better than any product made in a lab. My parents and I came up with the name Lavender Bee, which incorporates my signature essence, Lavender, not to mention my favorite color is purple. Then “Bee,” which was inspired by an exceptional insect that plays a key role in assuring that our ecosystem thrives. Like a bee, my goal is to help people thrive and prosper. From there, Lavender Bee Beauty and Wellness was born. My next steps were to come up with a line of products, perfect my recipes, and develop my brand.

I wanted to create a company that made self-care popular and fashionable. I want to make it fun to be healthy and at peace with who you are. My long term dream is to build Lavender Bee destinations worldwide that would include: a vegetable/herb gardens, a cafe, a spa and fitness center, an education & training center and, of course, a boutique with Lavender Bee Beauty and Wellness products and apparel.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am 19 years old, still in college actively pursuing a degree and work a part time job. It is not easy to be a full time student and maintain a business, especially one that started during Covid-19. Creating this business was a dream of mine and I knew staying focused was a must to become successful. Time management was the biggest factor for me. Some days I have to wake up a little earlier to deliver a package before class so that it arrives on time. Putting in the extra time to deliver packages or advertise on social media are constant reminders that I can run this business, go to school and still work a part time job. I’ve learned to take one day at a time and continue to work towards my goals.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being just a bit North of Atlanta, there are a couple places I would recommend to eat, shop or hang out. The first location is in Downtown Woodstock. Tiny Bubbles Tea Bar is a great place to go if you are looking for something sweet. After you grab some tea you can walk the strip and shop. Next is Atlantic Station. It’s the perfect place to shop, eat and take in the views of Atlanta. Then finally I would recommend the Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville, GA. The Museum is family friendly with planetarium shows and exhibits. It’s a great place to visit for all ages.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to a few people who have supported me endlessly and helped me make my dreams a reality. They have stayed up long nights to prepare products for local farmers markets, deliveries and so much more!

First, I want to shoutout my Mom and Dad who have helped me become the amazing business woman that I am today. They have taken the time to guide me through all the steps of becoming an entrepreneur at 19 years old. I would not be as far along as I am in this business without their support.

Next, I want to shoutout my best friend, Zac, who has always showed up to my events and helped me make and sell all of my products. No matter how late it got or how crazy the weather is, Zac has always been there to support me.

I am grateful to have this support system that encourages me to keep going and be the best version of myself.
