We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Busby and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, what do you attribute your success to?
At this point in my career and my life in general, I feel like the success of my brand has come from affirmations. The events that have taken place in my life have been because I would speak things over myself and my business when it looked completely different from what I was speaking. The most important factor behind success is actually putting in the work and not giving up. You will never see success if you don’t go through the process. I’ve learned that the process allows me to grow internally and externally I’m able to grow my client’s brand and mentor those that have a desire to pursue this profession. My community also contributed to my success. I surrounded myself with people that believed in me and poured into me whether it was through resources or whether it was through guidance.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My company is B the Buzz PR, a public relations firm that is geared to position clients for publicity, increase their brand awareness, and connect them to new connections and relationships. Our clients range from lifestyle, business, medical, beauty, and community relations. I must say the journey was not easy and to this day it’s not as easy as some may think from social media. I like to say I was forced to do what I’m doing. I originally started in Broadcasting and I had my mind stuck on being a top news reporter or anchor. Unfortunately, I was unable to get a job so I was stuck at home, working jobs that were underpaid or I was overqualified for. I can’t count how many times I’ve been let go from a job. Not because of my work ethic, but because something would always come up. When I look back at it, I’m more confident than ever that I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing. I overcame some challenges by taking risks, by putting the extra effort to open my mouth and say I need something. I was never too good to help or volunteer. I believe in putting in the work but also I’m big on education. I knew I couldn’t get to where I wanted to go without being in a place at the right time and giving my hand out to serve. I want the world to know that the reason I’m so passionate about getting other peopl’es stories to the masses is because I’m passionate about people seeing their hard work, their sweat, blood, and tears turn into a success story. I love to see things come to fruition.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Even in a pandemic, we have got to have a fancy dressed-up dinner. Even more than ever, I want to feel and look pretty and a nice dinner is a moment we can catch up on cocktails. Right now, I”m thinking of for dinner, Two Urban Licks or Rays on the River. Saturday, we could definitely start our day shopping at the outlets, having dinner near the outlets, and coming home for a nap before we hit the town. I love lounges so I would have to take them to one of my favorite places that is totally grown and sexy. However, on Sunday, it’s not a real ATL trip if you don’t have brunch! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would have to say I must shoutout out to my community. My community consists of my mother, my close friends, my mentor, my team, and other professionals that have mentored and poured into me. Everyone has and still pushes me in some way each day that I work in my field.
