We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Black and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, what do you attribute your success to?
My sons are the most important factor behind my success. I look at the world and the direction it appears to be going and I told myself that I would create a better environment that would help my 5 sons thrive. They will grow from sweet baby boys to black men and it’s a scary world for them. The incrimination rate seems to be higher than the success rate for black men. So I wanted to give them something that will be truly theirs. Something they can grow. Real Estate never dies, the opportunities are incredible and I hope they thrive! My motivation is driven by my boys.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I decided to enter into real estate, it was one of the scariest moments for me. I heard all the stories of failure and being broke for the first two years. However, I have always been driven by fear. The challenge was motivating. So many new obstacles. Initially you do not know how to write a contract and you have to depend on people around you to show you the ropes. The kicker is, the people around you are your competition. I have decided to never give up on real estate, so each year I find more ways to fall in love with it. More way to be creative and connect with the different generations of home buyers. I can dress professional and talk politics and I can put on a funny filter and talk about a hot topic. I’m versatile and adaptive. I want the world to know that I am here to stay. My train is running full steam ahead, you can get on or get off the track.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You can catch me anywhere that combines, food, fun, and family. D&B, MainEvent, anywhere!

I would not be where I am in life if it was not for my loving mother, Tracey Black. She keeps me grounded when my head spins.
