We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara J. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sara, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
Vision. I know its simple and may even sound basic, but vision is the key to anything that we do in live. When I started my first business, I had a lot of energy, passion and great ideas but I lacked vision. When I started working in corporate america, I had a lot of nice outfits, passion and energy, but I lacked vision. I lacked vision for the things that I wanted out of the company and the first business I started. I thought all I needed was passion, but I quickly learned that was not so. In business, we are asked to do things that may not line up with our goals, but without vision how will we align ourselves. I truly believe in counting up the cost with anything we do, and with that it is imperative to create the vision. Have the tough conversations with yourself and those who are in business with you to ensure that alignment is possible. I had to learn that all money, business relationships and connections aren’t always good. Even in business, you have to sift through the good and the bad, and that is measured through vision.

So, this one is a bit tricky for me. As a writer, entrepreneur and podcast personality I am constantly battling with myself in the creative realm. Creatively, my writing is where you want to be. its liberating, free and open, whereas my podcast is to the point with some flex room. Then there is the monetary side of things, well we all know there is a lot that goes into it but there can be plenty of room to jump outside of the box and make a name for yourself. As for the ease, I do not think any of this life as easy however, when you flex the mental and emotional muscle, capacity is added. As for challenges, I like to think of them as inevitable, they come rather we like it or not, so I plan for it. If I could shout to the rooftops and mountains about my brand, I would want them to know that shamelessness is a product of self awareness. Self awareness and loving self is the epitome of living your best life.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Hmm, this one is interesting too mainly because my girl friends would suggest I am a home body. However, to their dismay I am all about culture and the experience. So, if they were visiting on a Friday afternoon I would suggest Alon’s a quaint bakery in perimeter for mimosa’s and pastries. Shortly afterwards, we would visit Amicalola falls for a nice hike and lovely views. Of course afterwards, a hearty dinner is needed. I would suggest Two Urban Licks for cocktails and dinner. Saturday would consist of lounging and lazy hanging. Maybe a late brunch in the city and an early dinner in Buckhead. Sunday, what a day to rest. Church, brunch and maybe a paint in sip in Sandy Springs.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Hmm, honestly, its a no brainer; my family and friends. Interestingly, they done fully know the extent of my business and my aspirations but they are always finding ways to make my laugh and enjoy life. For me, I get so caught up chasing my dreams and somehow I lose sight of whats important, which is having someone to share it all with. my family and friends are that for me, they keep me grounded. My mother and two sisters for sure, they call with their hangout demands and it pushes me to be involved in life. I think we all need that in life sometimes.
