We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Creating my business was a vehicle to share my art and offer beautiful options in limited editions. Elsie de Wolfe said, “I am going to make everything around me beautiful.” I love this approach to living and this is our game. We challenge ourselves and those we meet to make it beautiful and pleasing. We are also committed to using the most authentic and natural materials which adds to a gorgeous outcome.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I share my development as following the breadcrumbs. I would not say it was easy and so many times my people (family and friends) cheered me on through the moments of doubt. Yet at the end of each day I have known to stay the course because I “do” what I “am” and that is not negotiable. I’m a bit of an introvert, as I think many creatives are, yet I love creating with and for people.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
While we would go to some fantastic restaurant -Anise, in Buckhead perhaps? I would entertain them in my home which is also my studio.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There have been so many people that have helped me along the way. My family and friends have been unstoppable in their encouragements and patronage. There are two mentions that are so important: Michael and Colleen Harris for “getting it” and seeing how exciting and fun it is to bring a unique beauty to life. The second is Philip Verre who as Assistant Director of the High Museum made introductions that opened up so many options in for developing our products. I was initially commissioned to design a line of scarves to support an upcoming exhibit by Ronald Lockett at the High. This was eye opening, collaborative (which I love) and set a new course.
