We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandra Ocasio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sandra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After experiencing my first military move in 2016, I resigned from my corporate position as a payroll professional to follow my husband on his orders. We moved from Las Vegas, NV to Mary Esther, Fl.

It was never in my plans to start my own business. But the way this military lifestyle is set up and us moving around every 4-6 years, I knew the conventional 9-5 was not going to cut it anymore for my family and I.

As a military spouse, we really can’t predict or control when or where we go next. And the thought of having to resign from another position when the next set of orders drop was daunting to me.

I decided to take all my professional skills and start an online business offering virtual assistant services remotely.

What should our readers know about your business?
When I began building my online business, I didn’t know where to begin. I downloaded all the freebies online. I bought all the $27, $37, $47 mini-courses masterclasses and webinars, I did all the vision board parties.

Consumed enough information to get me excited about making moves for a little bit but I would lose momentum quickly.

I was busy and booked and thought that was the way to do business. Not realizing that was the fastest road to burnout.

I learn the hard way that just because I am an expert in building funnels, and helping other people automating their online business did not mean I knew ALL aspects of what it takes to run a successful online business.

I had to give myself permission to ask for support in the areas I was lacking knowledge and experience.

It wasn’t until I hired my first business coach that I realized the importance of what it really was to have someone hold me accountable for the goals I set for myself. And the value of being inside a community with like-minded and like-hearted people that have similar dreams and goals as me.

It was really in this trying season that I made the committed to supporting more women of color launch and automate their online businesses. So that they can create more impact & income.

After spending thousands of dollars on coaching, personal development programs and courses, I took all the lessons learned over the last 7-years and created a roadmap that will save other entrepreneurs time, frustration, and money. I have narrowed it down to my 5-Steps signature process. This is the same framework I have used to help hundreds of my clients launch their online businesses and the results are incredible!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We live in the emerald coast, so this visit would involve a lot of water activities.

We would start the day with journaling and meditation.

Breakfast with fresh fruit is always the best.

Jet skiing on the Santa Rosa Sound and visit Crab Island for lunch on the beach.

Catch the sunset while cruising on a floating Tiki Bar in Destin.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Thanks to Patrice Washington from The Purpose Chaser Community and her amazing coaching, I am now able to speak in front of big audiences confidently and authentically as myself. The experience allowed me to find the courage to started The Courageous Hustler Podcast.

Thanks to Rachel Luna from The Faith Activated Journaling Community for expanding my mindset, and helping me discover the power of journaling.
