We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandi Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sandi, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My current consulting company stemmed from my virtual assistant company which I started after doing some research on how to use my skills as a paralegal to start my own business. My services progressed as I continued working with clients over the years as an Online Business/Project manager. While working on specific projects and helping to oversee the day to day in my clients’ businesses, I often found myself creating operating procedures for specific tasks or programs. I’ve always been a “how can we make this easy and efficient” type of person. So, I often presented ideas for streamlining processes and workflows for them. And because I love tech and tools I am usually able to suggest a tool that works for my client’s specific business model so we can implement automation strategies to help scale and grow the business. So many businesses don’t have fundamental operating procedures in place. This isn’t to say they are unsuccessful or not profitable. However, having core processes and automated systems help to scale a business faster, more efficiently and increase productivity for the CEO and the team/employees. It was just a natural progression for me to offer this as a service. I love doing it and It yields awesome results.
What should our readers know about your business?
Carter Evans Services, LLC is a business consulting company. We help service based businesses create and implement processes to streamline, automate and effectively delegate for a more profitable and productive business. Our goal is to help our clients grow and scale their next six figures without the overwhelm and time away from loved ones with strategic workflows and automation tools. I started my business as a single mother. I wanted more freedom to spend quality time with my children. I wanted to be without limits in time or income. I understand the guilt of working moms. I understand being overwhelmed and trying to launch and run a business while working a full time job and raising kids. I want to help others navigate thru those processes and not make the same mistakes I did. If you are willing to learn from mistakes then I’m happy to help you skip that hurdle. Starting this business wasn’t easy. Pivoting to a completely different business model was even more challenging. It meant turning down clients because I no longer provided certain services and essentially starting over with a completely different target client. It meant becoming very clear on what my niche was and who I wanted to serve and sticking to that. That was extremely challenging because it takes patience and when money gets funny, patience is hard. I had to learn to remain consistent (I still sometimes struggle with this). I had to keep showing up even when it seemed no one was listening and I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted. Building a business is not for the faint of heart. It will leave you in tears, literally. I remember seeing a quote on social media that said “Are you going to cry about it, or do something?” And the response was “I’m going to do both” No truer words were ever spoken. I have cried, given up and said I was shutting it all down. And then after I finished all that, I got up and said okay so what do I need to do to make this work? My children are watching. My husband and my family are rooting for me. And God has already told me, if I will be obedient then he will guide my path. So that, is what I stand on. My best advice is to find friends, partners that are like minded and will hold you accountable for finishing what you started. Trust the process, be patient and have faith in yourself and in your God given purpose.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I don’t go out too much. I love going to restaurants so it would be a world wind of my favorite places to eat. I absolutely love Fin and Feathers in Douglasville! It’s a great vibe, good music and AHH-MAZING food! I’m not super fancy so a good food truck or fast food place is always on the horizon. Stan’s Smoke Signals has the best ribs and barbeque in the state of Georgia! And I can’t leave out Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks. Bring a chair because there’s always a line but it is SO worth it!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many that I attribute to helping me progress in my business. I am blessed enough to have a family that always encourages me in my business, despite the fact they still don’t quite understand what it is that I do, lol. My brother, specifically will share and promote me all over his social media to any and everyone. I have gained insight from my “business besties” and mentors, Terryl DeMondonca and Jasmine Womack as well as boss women in the industry who don’t compete, they applaud fellow women in business. They have given me ideas, reviewed my offers, coached me on making improvements and hold me accountable when I don’t feel like showing up. Their successes and vision for their businesses inspire me to know my goals are achievable if I continue on the path God has set for me.
