We had the good fortune of connecting with Samirah Bonaparte and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samirah, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The single most important decision that contributed to my success would have to be deciding to move out of my mom’s house at 18. I began to take myself more seriously when I realized my passions and hobbies can pay my bills. The deeper I dove into entrepreneurship the more I fell in love with what I could do. My end goal vision motivated me as I was developing my business. Chasing my dreams while trying to sustain a place to live , was not an easy task. I feel like the trial and error part of the journey makes the destination more fruitful. Sort of like that movie called “The Sandlot”.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My arts and crafts can have a million words, and speak for themselves. What sets me apart from others ,is that I am full of color and vibrancy. All my businesses sort of align with each other in the best way. “A Luxury Woman’s Elevation” displays all 3 of my mainstream businesses on the website I’ve created with Squarespace. I am most proud of myself for stepping outside of my comfort zone because I am confident that the person I’ll be tomorrow will be more successful than the person I’ll be today. I am excited about being in my digital product era. I will be launching my 7th ebook labeled as “RICH OFF HAIR”. This will be my first ebook on the topic of being an entrepreneur in the beauty industry. It will also act as a mini hair portfolio to share my experience and work. I’ve gotten to where I am now by being scared and doing it anyway. The more I succeeded in the things I was afraid to do the more I wasn’t so afraid. This is not an easy task to do. The obstacle was to consistently walk on this thin line called “Trust”. I had to learn to trust myself and my ability to make wise decisions. When someone hears my brand “The MirrahB Collection” or “HAIRMAINTENANCEBYMB” orrr even “A luxury Woman’s Elevation” I want my face to come to mind. My life has changed tremendously because I decided to take a major leap of faith on myself and my abilities. Now I inspire other women like myself to do the same and escape the survival mindset keeping them in a position of lack. The universe doesn’t grant talent just to let it go to waste. It’s time for us to shock the world show the people what we are made of.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Okay so my favorite spots in the city of Atlanta would probably be Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, The juicy Crab , Johnnys New York style pizza, American Sandwich, Toast on Lenox, Chicken Salad Chick and Chick-fil-A. All of those restaurants have amazing food and drinks . A place to check out would be the Hindu temple of Atlanta. This place grounds me with my ancestors and gives me a great peace of mind. Excellent place to meditate. I find the square in Little Five Points and interesting place to stroll and visit near by stores. Specifically crystal shops and cute thrifting outlets. The Fox Theater in Midtown is at the top of my wish list. That would be an exciting time for the both of us to go for the first time and have amazing seats.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give recognition to my Mom for bringing me into this world and supporting me no matter how far apart we are. I would also like to give a big shoutout to my lover, Kendrick, for making me feel like I belong and always cheering me on❤️
