We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Rose Hicks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha Rose, how do you think about risk?
I’ve learned that risk is usually just another word for growth. Every big step I’ve taken in my life has involved trusting myself enough to leap before I felt ready. Leaving my corporate job to pursue tarot full time, writing my first book, and building The Ritual Garden Membership Community, all came from moments where I knew staying comfortable would mean betraying my purpose.

I don’t see risk as something reckless. For me, it’s sacred. It’s the act of saying, “I believe in what’s meant for me more than I fear what I could lose.” Every time I’ve chosen to listen to that inner nudge, it’s led me closer to who I really am and the work I’m meant to do in this world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work is rooted in transformation. I’m a tarot reader, author, and witchcraft educator who helps people reconnect with themselves through ritual, intuition, and everyday magic. What sets me apart is how I bring depth and accessibility together. I blend spiritual tools like tarot and astrology with grounded, real-world self-awareness. My goal is always to make this work feel human and applicable, not distant or out of reach.

I’m most proud of the community I’ve built through The Ritual Garden and my work with Llewellyn. Seeing people find healing, confidence, and purpose through these teachings reminds me why I started. I’m also proud that I’ve stayed true to my vision, even when the path felt uncertain.

Getting here wasn’t easy. I left a stable corporate career to follow a calling that didn’t come with a roadmap. There were times when I questioned everything, especially in the early years. But every challenge became a teacher. I learned resilience, faith, and the importance of showing up even when no one is watching.

The biggest lesson has been that growth and healing are rarely comfortable, but they’re always worth it. My journey has taught me to trust divine timing, to lead from authenticity, and to believe that the work we’re meant to do will always find us when we’re ready.

What I want people to know about my brand is that it’s not about perfection or pretending to have it all figured out. It’s about coming home to yourself, honoring your cycles, and finding the sacred in the everyday. My story is one of self-trust, grief turned to purpose, and the belief that magic is most powerful when it’s lived.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Atlanta, I’d want them to experience a little of everything that makes this area feel like home to me. We’d start the trip with a tarot reading from me at Equinox Provisions, the metaphysical shop where I work and teach. It’s such a cozy, magical space, and I love watching people light up when they walk in. After that, we’d head next door to Equinox Art Collective so they could get a tattoo from one of my talented friends there.

We’d grab coffee at Mr. Tombstone Coffee in Marietta, which has the best vibe and perfect drinks for a witchy day. Then we’d make our way to Kudzu Antiques + Modern in Decatur to wander through vintage treasures and weird little finds. Before heading home, we’d stop by Your Dekalb Farmers Market to pick up everything we need to cook a magical meal together.

The rest of the week would be a mix of fun and creative moments with bookstores, local art, nature walks, and good food. Atlanta has such an incredible blend of culture and community, and I’d want them to feel both the magic and the heart that live here.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely. My shoutout goes to my community, the people who have trusted me to read for them, learn with me, and grow beside me. The Ritual Garden members, my local shop family at Equinox Provisions, and the students who show up to every class with open hearts all remind me why I do what I do.

I also want to thank my publisher, Llewellyn, for believing in my work and giving me the opportunity to share my voice through Talking with the Tarot. That experience changed everything for me and opened doors I never imagined possible.

I am also deeply grateful for my mentors, teachers, and loved ones who have walked beside me through every chapter. Their wisdom, encouragement, and belief have shaped how I show up in this work today. None of this would exist without them.
