Meet Samantha Reavis | Culinary Enthusiast, Chef & Commentary Extraordinaire

We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Reavis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, what do you want your legacy to be?
After dealing with so much loss this past year, I want my legacy to be honest and generous. I want people to remember Sam as being 100% authentic. Authentic to herself, to love and to her craft. Despite an incredibly painful loss, I strived to stay authentic in what I created and in what I allowed myself to feel and grow through.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe what sets me apart from others is my desire to be honest to myself and my culture. To make my legacy strong and my family proud. I’ve been blessed to learn from a Master Chef, a Food Network Genius, Recipe Researchers and Developers, a Music Industry Veteran and numerous Culinary Entrepreneurs. Those experiences have given me an outline and continued courage to follow my dreams. There was nothing easy about getting to this point and honestly, I’m barely “there” yet. One thing I’ve always told myself is “have the courage to follow your dreams”, that’s what encourages me to keep moving, through every challenge. That’s what I want the world to know, have the courage to follow your dreams, it’s your responsibility to become your definition of success.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Yes! A gastronomic tour! If the besties are coming into town there are a few spots we’d have to hit! The Social Club with Chef Chy *chefs kiss*, Dat Fire Jerk Chicken with the oxtail and jerk chicken combo?! Wheeeew! We’d have to stop by Cafe BourbonStreet, Zaddy’s is a must for lunch! Twisted Soul Cookhouse and Pours is phenomenal. Cheesecaked for dessert and honestly the best bartender I’ve experienced is the one in house. Ahava Eats is undefeated in food and experience! There’s so many places!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To give credit to one person is completely injustice! First and foremost I’d like to thank God! My parents, equally are undefeated in the kitchen. Food is my family’s love language, it’s literally how we communicate. Le Cordon Bleu put the battery in my back as far as techniques are concerned. My amazing husband who not only challenges me in the kitchen but inspires me with how he captures what I create. Never forgetting the countless chefs in my circle that I learn from consistently. There’s an entire village I pull from!
