We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Norwood and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to create a magazine but I wanted it to stand for something. So I took a pack of index cards and wrote some the name Chic then I decided that it would be an acronym for Create.Help.Inspire.Change
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Chic so different because unlike other media outlets we don’t focus on celebrity gossip or tearing people down. We focus on the positive things happening right here in our own community. Part of the reason why we’ve been so successful these past 4 years is because we stand on what we believe in. We donate to local charities , offer great marketing opportunities to other small business owners and also helping our peers to stay encouraged. Unlike other magazines we don’t charge an arm or an leg for advertising and front covers. We know how important it is for small business owners to get their brands out there and we help them do this by offering affordable services.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Here in Dallas downtown is the place to be. The city has beautiful lights especially since it’s the holidays and my favorite spot is Main Event. You can eat, play and just enjoy yourself and have a good time. It’s also kid friendly.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout Tue Finley owner of Kraveme cosmetic. She is very passionate and goal driven. She also doesn’t mind sharing information and collaborating. She is the definition of a girl boss.
