Meet Samantha | Mom & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, what matters most to you?
When it comes to my social media presence, the most important principles to me are authenticity and genuineness. (This is probably why I’m still a small creator) I have always been authentic with my content, and I refuse to play some sort of “role” to gain followers. I am a normal, 30-something woman with children and a husband. I live in a normal house, I drive a normal car, and I’m very blessed to have this life. I don’t have one of the fancy influencer-aesthetic homes, my house is lived in, and I show that.
One of the reasons I wanted to make more motherhood content was because of the lack of *real* motherhood content out there. If you showed content of a messy playroom, you were a bad mom because you didn’t clean up your house. If you showed a pristine playroom, then you must be a boring beige mom because nothing appears played with. You truly can’t win sometimes as a mom. I strive to make my account authentic and genuine so any moms watching my videos feel like I’m their friend, not some unattainable being that makes them feel less than.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been creating content since around 2010, even prior to that, but that is when I started really putting videos together. This was long before content creation and being an influencer was a career. I started out making review videos for a website, and I had so much fun with it. Then I started creating more lifestyle content. Believe it or not, my first “viral” videos were from me documenting my long distance relationship and sharing tips and ideas (the relationship did not last so I’m not sure how great my tips really were). Then I really dove into my love of health and fitness, documenting my workouts, sharing my favorite healthy recipes, and my favorite supplements. This was where I really grew and gained followers. Unfortunately, all this growth happened right when I graduated from college, and it wasn’t as lucrative as it is now, so it was definitely not paying my bills or student loans. So I got a job, which took a lot of time away from making content. Fast forward to now, after years of sort of being able to make it work, I feel like now I really do have it all. I get to share my days, my journey of motherhood, my favorite products and recipes, and so much more. I’m thankful that genuine and authentic social media accounts are on the rise, because no my house isn’t worth 5 million dollars, but my life is full of joy and I love sharing that. And if it pays even just the groceries for the week, then I am perfectly happy with that.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am from a very small town, and I live in a very small town. So not much to share there! But D.C. is beautiful and not too far from me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am lucky to have a husband who supports me making my silly little videos. I’ve been doing this since 2010, long before TikTok and long before doing social media was considered normal. He has never made me feel silly for exploring this and he is always proud of me. Back when I did fitness content, he was always willing to help film my workouts even though some people loved to stare as if we were aliens out and about. He is so supportive of anything I want to do.
