We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Fernandes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, why did you pursue a creative career?
Since I was a toddler I always loved to partake in creative activities. Whether it be drawing, painting and even fashion and beauty. I use to always go into my mothers makeup (as I’m sure almost all children did) and play around with it. But as I got older I never stopped. My mom purchased me my own make up as a teen so I can stay out of hers lol. I found passion in enchanting the beauty of the face. It was art to me. The more faces I would touch with make up the more I fell in love with enhancing the beauty of faces. 6 years after being a make up artist I realized I actually love skin. I started to want to take care of the skin instead of masking it. Treating skin allows me to be so creative with my approach in helping my clients achieve healthy beautiful looking skin.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What has always set me apart from others is how passionate I am about my work. My ultimate goal is to always provide a delightful pathway to overall well-ness with excellence and integrity to enhance the beauty and confidence of my clients through professional, educating and personalized services. Having my eyes set on my goals it what has gotten me to where i am today and what continues to push me forward. I’d say that my biggest challenge would be myself. What I mean by that is because in order for me to get to where I ultimately want to be I am constantly having to step out of my comfort zone and better myself, my character and my way of thinking; especially in my industry you have to be innovative when working in the beauty industry. You have to continue growing. I’ve learned that If your your comfortable where you’re at then your not growing there is always room for growth.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love taking family and friends who aren’t from Atlanta to the belt line. It’s such a fun experience. There is so many amazing restaurants and drinks no matter where you go on the belt line. I’d probably specifically take them to Krogs street market though!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout my parents who have always supported my dreams in going into the beauty industry. My parents saw my gift and nurtured it. They never shut it down and said “that’s not a real career” they never forced me to go to traditional 4-8 years college/university. Since I was 12 years old, they supported my love for the beauty industry and supported me in any and every way; all the way till this day. Last but not least I want to thank God for guiding me every step of they way and using me to glorify the name of Jesus and be light in this industry.
