We had the good fortune of connecting with Sam Teague and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sam, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
The endgame for me is to inspire as many creative people as possible to follow their hearts and dreams. That is my mantra! I want to pass on my creative energy to them. By the end of my career, I hope to have traveled the world photographing and documenting various people and their stories. That will be my gift to the world.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started shoot back in 2016 after visiting Universal Studios in Orlando. on a business trip. I just wanted to take a few picture on my iPhone 6 (LOL) to remember the moments. But when I got back to Atlanta I realized how good the photos were and purchased my first DSLR at Best Buy.
My love for people and music lead me to shooting festivals and concert photography. I started y career by shooting amateur night bands and performers at varies stops in Atlanta. This is were I paid my dues. Greco was the first band that gave me the opportunity to shoot them at Smith’s Olde Bar. Thereafter, I started getting bigger opportunities shooting for the AJC Peachtree Road Race Marathon, RED BULL MUSIC and Grammy-Nominated Tank & The Bangers. I was honored when CEO, Nolan Williams Jr. from NEWorks Productions featured my 2020 March On State Capital in Georgia photography in its WOKE! Civic Engagement Campaign. I’ve been published in NYLON, PAPER and OUT magazine..
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Little Five Point is my favorite spot in Atlanta. Its has so much culture and life around every corner but it’s the people woh make it all worth wild. The first place that I ate was this pizza place called, Little Five Points Pizza. I love place where I can eat outside. The pizza was great and the vibe was right. The people in this area are free spirits, unique and fearless. It’s the place where you find all the weirdoes, freaks and me. #mytribe
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my grandmother, Cardia M. Allen for raising, loving me and being the biggest supporter in my life. Thanks for allowing me to use the dinner room table as my creative space.
