We had the good fortune of connecting with Sable Ravish and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sable Ravish, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Ever since I medically retired from the Army in 2017, every move I’ve taken has been a risk. See my definition of risk is a degree of probability of a taking a loss. Some will say I risked a good future moving back home to Atlanta but I see it as my learning season. When I moved back home to Atlanta, I didn’t have plans on staying. In fact I was packed up and ready to move to Los Angeles but working at Streetz 94.5 and learning from the personalities on a daily basis kept me in Atlanta, meeting and building relationships with the top influencers and artists in the game. I took a risk on staying in the A to learn from the best of the best. I couldn’t give that up so fast to start over in a unfamiliar territory.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The Qwing of networking and Jane of all trades, is what I’m referred to as of lately. I produce dope results overall, from the television industry to the radio and music industry.
I served ten years in the medical field in the Army before living out my dreams of being in the music industry. Last few years of my military career, I was deep into the party promoting and DJ’ing. From DJ’ing major festivals, Pride parades, and some of the biggest crowd in the Pacific Northwest, I knew my love and passion for the music industry would be my ticket to success. I took a risk and moved from Tacoma, WA to Orlando, FL to attend Full Sail, where I later graduated as Salutatorian with over 9 awards and my bachelors in Music Business. Eager to help artists gain more media exposure, I took a month off then dove into my masters in Public Relations.
From PA’ing for the top reality shows to a respected A&R for a well-known indie label in Atlanta to now producing content for the biggest hip-hop/R&B station in the city… it was really all manifested (except working in the tv industry, that was God).
I’m most excited about not giving up and running from the lessons I’m being taught on the daily. It hasn’t been easy. A lot of days and nights of free labor in the music industry and with inflation rising, most would hang up their dreams and attain a 9 to 5 to just make ends meet. I understand the hustle. Matter fact. I was raised off hustle and not love. Manifestation is real and when you speak it into existence, it will come to you.
I’ve learned lately that people are going to love and respect you for YOU. If you present yourself in an authentic way, wanting to learn and not take, you’ll be rewarded beyond what you could ever imagine. You really just have to go get what you know you deserve because it’s already there just wanting on us.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a vibe cr8tor! I shop alone but party with the masses! And one thing I love about my city (ATL shawty) is we have vibes for all different types of personalities.
Monday, we can start with dinner at Spice House Buckhead. Ambiance and their Caribbean food is on another level. Then we have to end the night with the best R&B vibes on a Monday at Aura Lounge with FlyGuy DC and DJ Boof.
Tuesday, we’ll hit PuttShack in the day time, have Taco Tuesday at BarTaco then end it in the city at the hidden gem, SideBar for some karaoke.
Wednesday, let’s start off with breakfast at Atlanta Breakfast Club. Then we’ll hit the Selfie Museum, the GA Aquarium then end the night at the Painted Pin.
Thursday! We’re rejuvenated, ready for the weekend right. Have to start with breakfast at Thumbs Up off Marietta St. Do some shopping at Cumberland Mall and Philips Plaza. Hit the Trap Music Musuem because that’s a must when you come to Atlanta then all roads lead to Opium powered by Jagged Edge and the goat FlyGuy DC on the mic.
Friday, it goes down starting at the Culture Experience, dinner at Nouveau on the Southside then we’re parting with #TeamHennessy and Su Solo at Boogalou with Ferrari Simmons on the turntables. Partying with Su Solo is like no other, so prepare yourself!
Saturday, we day partying at Suite Lounge, shopping at the Atlanta Premium Outlets then ending our night with FlexGang Slim at Vybez Restaurant & Lounge.
Sunday Funday, we’re starting off and probably ending our weekend with brunch at Opium 2.0 with DJ MoneyMaal.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dedicate my shoutout to all the military veterans who haven’t yet found their lane post military career. The transition is hard, but we all had major goals before we served, or even during. Seeing one of us succeed motivates a handful of others to get up and get to these bags.
I also dedicate this shoutout to Ferrari Simmons and FlyGuy DC of Streetz 94.5. I came back to Atlanta nervous on where to start. Working up under them these past 9 months has brought me out my comfort zone, displaying a sense of confidence I never realized I had before.
