We had the good fortune of connecting with S. Deniro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi S., what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started to realize the knowledge I had in the music and entertainment industry as a whole. I noticed the relationships I built along the way by exploiting my own talent in creating musical content. I learned how to package and market my own work, as well as understanding the economics of it all. I also noticed that by creating my business I could give others something I never had by teaching the business and nurturing new up and coming talent. Being apart of someone’s success story would be a badge of honor well-worn.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me and my business apart from the others in my industry is the consistency in delivering and creating quality musical content and having it circulated through not only the industry but the community as well. We are a community based record label. Meaning, everything we do is for the people. We use our musical content to reach and help better not just the adults but the youth as well, Community affairs are very important to us. We love to bring the people together and create a peaceful ambiance through Hip-Hop music. Building the relationships that I did along the way helped me to make a lot happened not only for myself but for my company and others around me. Though it was a very tough process and still is from time to time, I still managed to land some very big collaborations within the entertainment industry. One of my biggest challenges in building myself and my business was finding my audience and learning how to cater to them. What I’ve learned is that relationships are very important in the industry. Creating the awareness through the people and businesses I have collaborated with has been the biggest tool in my repertoire. Relating to the community is important in my everyday work as a business owner. I want people to know that if you possess the talent, then all you need to do after that is put your mind to it. Confidence is key in this industry and all u need after that is the knowledge, Through my own experiences I have learned so much and now I would love to show the next up and coming artist how to get to the next level. Whether or not we go to that next level with the artist is irrelevant. Playing a part in the artist’s success and seeing them grow is enough for us.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely going to the city. There’s so many places we could be. I have relationships with a lot of night club promoters and managers. I also have good relationships with the DJs. So the nightclub scene or live show would be my idea of a good time. Maybe at Irving plaza or Taj. Places like that or where ever there’s a live event going on. Sei Less is a good place to eat for sure if you’re coming into New York from out of town. They also have good drinks there. There then that we’d probably hjust hangout at the recording studio and have a good time while creating.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely want to send my shoutouts to a couple people. First and foremost, my daughter who doesn’t realize it, but always inspires me to do better because she never stopped believing in me even at my lowest. To her I’m superman, and anytime I feel like “I can’t”, my position in her life forces me to know I actually “can”. My parents for raising me the best way they could and never going up on me. My good friend who is more like a brother to me and also an artist under my label, Tee Dot Ohh. Been with me through thick and thin. My boy RP, another brother to me. Always supported and pushed me to my full potential. My producer Vinny Idol, for being more than a producer and actually taking the time to help me get to the next level. Also another brother to me. Honestly there’s so many people, I could go on because it took a village to build me first before I built this company. Whoever I missed knows their place in my story and in my heart.
