We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryland Fountain and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryland, how do you define success?
I define success as being financially stable and doing something that you love. Success in my opinion is what you make of it if you have your priorities at least together and are working towards a goal or you dreams thats success or at least on your way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart is that im gonna say how I feel or whatever I think no matter how wild it is. Musically what sets me apart is I’m so versatile I can rap on any beat and nobody raps like me. I also talk about what people are thinking but aren’t bold enough to say. Im most proud of getting my first label offer at 13 and still haven’t signed a deal yet. How I got here wasn’t easy I didn’t have a lot of people in my corner when I started making music and still don’t. I honestly feel like I haven’t gotten anywhere yet in terms of success in music. Ive learned to be myself and if you don’t like it then thats your problem and along as I got music thats all I need.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
this question is interesting for me I really dont have a favorite spot I’m only highschool and growing up I moved around alot. I didnt start really going out until a couple years ago when I got comfortable with myself. I would say trying exotic foods from different places would things I would do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d shoutout my I would consider big brother(close friend) Edgar or better known as Midwxst he’s the one who inspired me to start making music. When I saw him blow up infront of my eyes it lit something inside of me like a belief or a mindset that I could do it to.

I’d also shoutout my dad for sure he’s went out of his way to come to my shows and help me find connections in the music industry. He is the only real one in my family who supported me and encouraged me to do what I love and didnt tell me it was stupid or dumb or I should quit.
