We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan SCOTT and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process was if you weren’t invited into the room, make a room for yourself that’s equally as daunting as the one you wanted to be in. I always thought the salon was a second home for me because of how much time I spend in the salon. I’d always dreamed of owning a salon where the stylist were truely valued and appreciated, since thats what ive always wanted and had never found. When the opportunity presented itself, I thought, why not be true to myself and provide that sense of family, professionalism, and expert skill sets in a safe space for those seeking that same vibe.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Runway Weaving Bar Salon is a full service one stop shop for all things beauty and fashion I should. We are different because because we match our levels of compassion with our expertise, creating the perfect experience in a safe and inclusive environment.

The salon got its name from a couple different places. As the owner my background Included modeling. The salon was unknown for weaving prior to me acquiring it. I also have an affinity for libations so in keeping with what was known and truest of self, I infused a little bit of me to something that was already, and there arises the Runway Weaving Bar

As the owner I started young in the industry I was 19 years old right out of high school and fresh out of beauty school when I came to the very facilities that I now own.

Being a creative at heart during my journey to my current position I dabbled in fashion design and make up and in perfecting the world of weaving.. So much so that we are now able to offer cranial prosthetics fully covered by most insurance companies for alopecia and cancer patients.

Through years of experiencing clientele with hair growth and loss issues it developed my scope of possibilities. My pursuit of knowledge is never ending, so i thoughtwhy not share some of the knowledgeive acquired about hairloss with the beauty industey and our clientele. I’m now an educator for the Zenagen hair Reclamation Brand, Which is one of the foundational points for my salon. we pride ourselves in being knowledgeable abouthair loss and recovery, and every service available on the market both new and old. We believe that knowledge about all things new keeps you current.

One of the things that I’ve learned that is most important to me now is learning how to discern who is a good fit for the situation at hand. Which is why I pride myself on the staff that was chosen to operate in the salon. My team truly is a team we look out for each other just as if we were family even though we all run our own businesses in the same space. Sometimes the family you have is the family you choose .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were coming into town we’d probably start at the salon to get the vibes right and make sure everyone’s hair is flowing.. Then we definitely do dinner with with drinks and and dessert and Probably go to art galleries or do a sip and paint or create some pottery and hit some local lounges. I’d cook a big Sunday dinner and we’d eat like a family around the table and when everyone was ready, we’d part ways until next time but not before planning my trip to there town.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to the non profit organization Under the rug for helping me come to grips with my past and move forward towards my future. Without them who knows where I would have ended up!!!
