We had the good fortune of connecting with Russell Squire and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Russell, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting Jewels4Krowns is that I love people, and I always want to find ways to help and encourage them. I saw a post that said, “you are who your childhood needed.” So, I started Jewels4Krowns to be the mentor and guide I needed while growing up, inspired by life experiences, both positive and negative. I felt the world needed the me that I needed when I was growing up.

The concept for Jewels4Krowns was birthed through life’s lessons – anxiety, depression, & honesty in telling my story. Everyone is born with a crown, and the jewels added to it represent life experiences and personal growth. Another inspiration for the name came from an article I read about Queen Elizabeth’s crown, where each jewel symbolizes a part of one’s life story, with both achievements and challenges contributing to the overall beauty of the crown, and each blemish telling a part of my story that I survived.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have a unique approach to content creation and personal branding. A key component is my authenticity. I love God but also cuss occasionally. I’m an imperfect person who loves a perfect God. My content is a mix of spiritual insights and everyday experiences, offering a level of honesty not often seen. Jewels4Krowns brand is a life journey where I share lessons as I go, promising viewers an enjoyable and unpredictable “roller coaster ride” with my videos.

Jewels4Krowns is more than just a platform, but a movement aimed at encouraging people to live authentically without shame, promoting honesty, love, and mutual support.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

An itinerary for my favorite spots that my best friend and I would visit looks like…

– Starting our day off at Grits and Eggs – one of my favorite brunch spots, and I’d get crab cakes with French toast.
– We’d then go to Piedmont Park for a nature walk and people-watching – this is another one of my favorite places to go.
– Then, we’d venture on to Atlantic Station where we’d explore vendors, food spots, shopping, and possibly catch a movie.
– Finally, we’d end the visit with going to Victory Christian Church’s 7:30 service on Sunday evening.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shoutout my parents. I’m a product of their perseverance & resilience in raising my siblings and I despite challenging circumstances. They were counted out because of their backgrounds, but they birthed a fighter. Thank you Mom and Dad

I’d also like to shoutout to every spiritual mentor, who have encouraged my development in my relationship with God

There are five important people who’ve passed that I must also shoutout – Robert (brother), Teresa ( Aunt) Patricia (grandmother), Russell, Sr. (grandfather), & Shawnte (aunt).

I know it’s a lot of shoutouts, but I can’t let this opportunity pass without honoring those who’ve impacted my life & left an indelible mark on shaping who I am today. Lastly Shout out to the 5 yr old Russell, we did it babyboy, we survived
