We had the good fortune of connecting with Rushane Fearon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rushane, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As you know in this world all we do is go to school then leave school at whatever age the school allows us to leave then head to college then after collage we try to get a job, I never believed in that at all, I never even believed in working for anyone because I believe that no one is really able to pay you for your time, time is priceless so it’s all right for you to start your own business and work for your self, work in your own time and make your own money without have to be working for anyone, that was my mindset from the get go and that’s how I because the person I am today working for nobody but my self.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In every way as a graphic designer & dancehall artist I’m just different I have a distinct style, style you can’t find anywhere else, I am excited to grow and meet new people, I never traveled before but I know I have a very bright future ahead of me, looking back in time i am very proud of my growth & how professional I’ve become in the game, certain things I don’t do anymore and that’s how I know I’m growing and learning. How I really became a pro took a lot of hard work, practice & patience because proper preparations prevents poor performances in life, all this wasn’t easy but I worked very hard to get where I am today, I’ve learnt a lot both good and bad and also lost a lot if people on my journey I’ve learnt that you won’t have everything you want but I’m to make sure I at least have everything I really need, I’m strong mentally so I easily overcame any challenge I face in life and God also helped me to clear my path to reach further in life, I want the world to know that anywhere you see the word FVLLAZ or WENGAF or WENGAF ARTS or WENGAF ENTERTAINMENT expect something different, expect quality, expect professionalism.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a chance I would take not only my best friend but my team “WENGAF” to Dubai To live like they have never lived before all on me, if it’s a week long trip then I would just bring them to tour the entire United Arab Emirates to experience a new lifestyle and new technology so by the time we are by home we would be fully motivated to became as rich as a prince in Dubai because sometimes you don’t need anyone to motivated you, you just need to be in a new environment for a short period of time to be self motivated, I would hang out and eat in the tallest building there and stay in the most futuristic hotel and roll out with the team in a few luxury cars and then go in the desert to travel on those quad bikes then bring them go clubbing in the night.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m somewhat more successful as a graphic designer than a dancehall artist but I’m more known for music than being a graphic designer, funny right? Lol. I don’t really have anyone to thank for this because I’m the one who is always motivating people to do certain things or to follow in my foot steps but I do have friends around me who is always telling me I’m far far better than other graphic designers and dancehall artist because they believe in my craft, I can literally do anything i put my mind to because I’m a jack of all trades but not really a master of none but still better than a master of one.
For being known for music I give my self that credit because I was known from a very early stage in high school but separate and apart from that I want to give credit to my team “WENGAF” for helping to tell people about me and my close friend who is now deceased Terrence McDonald more popularly known as Mugz Boss, he was a sound system owner/ event promoter and who was the one who booked me for my first big performance in front of over 3000 people to perform alongside the likes of sizzle, tommy lee Sparta & masicka who are all mainstream dancehall artist and I also had the opportunity to be his ghost graphic designer, so I didn’t only perform on the show but I also was the Graphic Designer for the event too & I was also featured in the local news papers thanks to his events, separate and apart from that I get most of my support from my community and a few outside people.
Thanks so Spice the Grammy Nominated Queen Of Dancehall for being that first mainstream international dancehall artist to invite me on the same stage with her to perform alongside her, I’ll never forget that.
I don’t really have a mentor but I do have other artist that I look up to and few of those artist are Vybz Kartel,Spice,Buju Banton, bounty killer, kranium & dexta daps, what I love about all these artist that just mentioned is the fact that they are not only very talented but they are very independent.
