We had the good fortune of connecting with Royale Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Royale, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an artistic career because with it I am able to truly be myself. I have the ability to create my own path, without having to follow or listen to anyone else’s rules. Unlike many other professions, there is no limit to the amount of art you create. The sky is the limit. To me modeling is an expressive form of art, that tells a story or makes a statement, without words. Pursuing an artistic career really helped with my confidence and it allows me to show people that, they can be whoever they want in this world if they just push theirselves.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m different from others because I don’t care what people thing. I’m going to look and wear whatever makes me comfortable. I’m proud of how far I’ve come as a freelance model and as a person. It started off with just an idea of what I wanted and now it’s becoming something bigger and I have a lot of work to do. It wasn’t easy getting to where I am today. I had to constantly work on myself mentally and physically. I still have a lot more work to do, however in the end it will all be worth it. I overcame many challenges in life by working on being a more positive individual. Focusing on that, helped me not overthink so much on the negative aspect of life. One lesson I’ve learn is that no matter what you do or say, people are going to judge you, so just do whatever makes you happy and comfortable. One thing I want the world to know about me is that no matter how many times I fail, I’m never going to give up until I’m living my dreams in real life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to town, I would show them my favorite park, which is Piedmont park. I love going to the park to just walk and clear my head or even for a nice picnic with friends. I would also take my friend to my favorite shopping mall in the city, which is Ponce City Market. It’s not your typically mall. It’s a place with many different stores. They have candle shops, crystal shops, shops that sell essential oils, etc. Ponce City Market is such a vibe to me. It’s a cool place to hang out with friends. Plus they have a rooftop with arcade games and food! Another place I would take my friend is the art museum! I love going to the museums and seeing different types of art by different types of amazing people. It brings me joy to see an abundance of beautiful art in one place. One day my home will be filled with different types of artwork as well. My own personal museum.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Throughout my journey of becoming a Fashion/Editorial Model, my friends and family have been my number one supporters. I would like to shoutout my best friend Abel for being my number one support system. He is always there giving me good advice and helping me become a better person. I also would like to shoutout my other good friend Karimah. She is always supporting me via social media and she always putting my names in rooms that I haven’t walked into yet and I appreciate her for that. She also very talented herself!
