We had the good fortune of connecting with Roshika West and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Roshika, how does your business help the community?
I initially launched my media production company 20-West Entertainment & Media to create media productions and services that would impact the community through creative media. Although I accomplished that goal, I soon realized that every production and event was an opportunity to hire free-lancers and train interns about media production and careers. Thus, under 20-West Ent. I started Learn Media Today, my company’s training branch. I thought about how I gained 5 internships at high-level media companies and the challenges that I faced building in my media career when I started. I also thought about motivation, resume writing, personal branding and creating success in a media career. So, after I completed my Master of Arts degree in Communications, I launched my coaching platform Learn Media Today.com to host training events both in-person and online. I started by just blogging about my lessons on www.SunshineWest.org my website, and later launched our new digital home www.LearnMediaToday.com. My business ultimately helps the community and the world by providing educational events and helping individuals and businesses to build and transform their brands through our training, media and branding services.
What should our readers know about your business?
The most important thing to know about my business and is that I am a natural creative. I started creating when I was only 6 years old by drawing cartoons and painting. However, I always had an interest in media arts and wanted to try acting. After, becoming an actor in college, I became even more fascinated with how productions where made. I loved seeing creative teams come together and how their expertise combined to create motion pictures. Thus, when I started my career in media as a youth, I took a proactive approach to everything, I asked questions, gained mentors and followed all the good guidance I could. I later became a media entrepreneur to promote my creative visions. Now with 20-West Entertainment & Media LLC. I’ve created video promotions, graphics, websites, trainings and scripts. All because I have a commitment to my own creativity. I bring this to my clients that are interested in consulting to boosting their personal or business brands. I am a true creative and that’s my superpower that I hope to continue to serve people with.
I also solidified my media expertise when wrote a book and published it with Amazon in May 2020, titled “Shine Online: 101 Ways to Shine on Social Media.” The book pitch’s over 100 media branding strategies and guidelines. I never thought I’d create a book like this, but with everything moving online, it was perfect timing to publish it this year. I now train in the areas of branding, social media for business and other workshops that can be found on www.LearnMediaToday.com. My media productions and services are growing including more branding services and an upcoming inspirational podcast next year. I appreciate every client and follower and hope they tune in.
People can now reach out 20-West or Learn Media Today for more information on gaining media services or training for their brands.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I always love a good breakfast, so I’d take a family or friend to the Original Pancake House for breakfast. Later, I would recommend going to Pappdeaux Seafood Kitchen for some jazz music and food with a Louisiana flare. Next, I’d find a paint and sip venue to keep us entertained and enjoying the arts and vibing through the night.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I thank my family for their support over the years. My family has always encouraged me to aim high and where my first production crew, travel, hair and wardrobe team! I thank anyone that has opened a door for me and had confidence in my ability to work with them or serve them as a consultant. I thank all team members who have served on the 20-West Entertainment & Media team. I also thank and appreciate the filmmaker Tyler Perry for his positive influence on talents and entrepreneurs like myself in Atlanta.
