We had the good fortune of connecting with Roshedia Armour and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Roshedia, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
My take on risk is by any means necessary! I have taken risks all my life. I am a person who has a disability. I will not let my disability define who I am! I want to be successful so I take risks everyday by doing what I need to do to reach my goals in life. I struggle everyday I wake up but I push through with ambition and determination. I will beat the odds! Giving up is not an option for me! Pray Until Something Happens has always been my motto! I am in control of my destiny. So taking risks for me is what you have to do to get to where you’re trying to go.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is my compassion and love for people. I love making women and men feel beautiful. That wow factor knowing I played a part in people lives that brings joy and confidence to them. The smiles and tears of joy it just does something for me because I was once them in a place of low confidence and self esteem! Most importantly I didn’t know how to love me because I was raised in a home of brokenness and generational curses of negative thought forms and no love! Love wasn’t instilled in me but the hatred of my skin complexion was! I was taught that I was ugly, black and unworthy to be loved! Once I learned to reprogram my mind and remove the negative thinking I began to love myself and once I grasp the concept of makeup and that it only enhanced what I already had that’s when I took makeup and start applying it to others and sharing my story so that I can inspire others to embrace themselves and exude confidence that they didn’t even know they had and that was the magic of it all!!! It wasn’t easy but I got it done and it bring me such joy when I get hugs or people come to me and I can minister to their pain!! That’s what I want the world to know about me that this is not just about the outside it’s about the inside so we can wear and exude the confidence from the inside with just a lil enhancement on it!!! I love what I do!!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend came to visit I would take them to milk and honey, la petit, Mary macs just to name a few great places to visit and eat great food! I would take them to do some shopping at Atlantic station or Lenox mall. I would show them some Atlanta history with mlk museum, the trap museum, the aquarium, and civil rights musuem!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out every person who has motivated me, pushed me, bought a makeup product, stood by me , even the ones that are no longer around I thank everybody because when I couldn’t they did and I can’t thank every single person enough for what they have done and continue to do!!! I am so grateful!
