We had the good fortune of connecting with Rosegold Shay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rosegold, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Creating music is my way to get my thoughts out of my head. I started creating only for myself but early on I discovered these thoughts and emotions aren’t exclusive to me. Music is a way for me to tell my story but how someone else interprets it gives them peace with theirs. It creates a sense of community for just one person to connect with your art.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my vulnerability and intention. As an artist you’re ability connect with the people is just as important as your talent. People can relate to me like they’ve known me for 50 years. My song Life’s A Trip seems to be an anthem for people. I’m excited about touring the west coast and connecting with my fans out there. I’ve touched a lot of states over the last two years but I haven’t been out west yet.

I started making a buzz in Atlanta selling my crystal jewelry at pop ups shops. At one point I was doing 5 events a week. Some of those events happened to be open mics and people were excited to more sides of me than they knew existed.

The journey as an artist hasn’t been easy but to say that it’s hard wouldn’t be fair. There’s days that are really tough where you feel like giving up then there’s days where you ask yourself why you didn’t start this career sooner. It’s important to keep people close by to push you through the hard times. When I ask for support it could be something as simple as a book recommendation or meditation video.

What I learned is if you choose to make your creative passion your career you have to treat it like such. No one will put in more work on your dream than you. You have to be willing to push through all levels of discomfort and have faith that it will work out in your favor.

The goal of my brand is to inspire the world to live out their wildest dreams. Often times we are discouraged from pursuing our desires either from the thoughts of others or the thoughts of our own. If we can master our mind we can master anything. Which sums up what my song Paradise is about.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My top hangouts in the city are Bonfire and Wadada. If anyone wants a view of Atlanta they may not have seen on tv those would be it! Bonfire is one of the most interesting nightlife experiences. I’ve seen magicians, fire throwers, snakes; it’s just not the typical club environment people are used to. Wadada is my daytime hangout near Westend Mall. They have the best food and smoothies in the city. The store has nothing but Black Owned businesses kn the shelves selling everything from soap to pie. The music is always a vibe too! They play my song Life’s A Trip from time to time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my success to my fans and clients for their continued support and keeping the vibes high! I am forever grateful for every like, comment, subscriber and viewer. Special shoutout to The Gems for their hard work on making sure my EP is ready to touch all 4 corners of the earth!
