We had the good fortune of connecting with Rose Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rose, what do you attribute your success to?
There are so many factors that have contributed to where I am today as a person and an author- the encouragement of my family and friends, the professionals in my circle of influence, the advice and education offered within the indie bookish community, and so much more. But all that being said, the one thing that overrides, or enhances, all others is my positive mindset.

A positive mindset is the foundation upon which everything else stands. Without it, dreams have no chance of becoming a reality because chasing dreams is hard work! But in the end, when you rely on your positive mindset and combine that with all the other factors in your life, the rewards are incredible!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I write Young Adult Fantasy with diverse characters, complicated romance, powerful families, and dynamic friendships. I believe that no matter how dark the world may seem, there is always a sliver of light if you look hard enough. This theme permeates every aspect of my being and threads itself through the fabric of my stories. The fight is always worth the reward!

So far, I’ve published nine full length novels, four novellas, and four short stories. I’m currently working on book number ten as well as writing a script for a TV pilot!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
H-Town is an amazing city! We have professional sports, an incredible fine arts district, wonderful museums, and some fantastic restaurants. Not to mention NASA and the beach are nearby. I guess I’d ask my guest what they’re into. Then, depending on the time of year, I’d plan something they’d like.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Next to my family and my circle of friends, I have to acknowledge the Queens of the Quill! This is the wonderful group of tight-knit writers I have the pleasure and honor calling my writer besties. One of the Queens, Joanna Reeder, is the one who made this interview happen.
