Meet Rosario Simao | Co-Owner R&D Deluxe Hand Carwash & Detailing

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rosario Simao and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rosario, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
We’re both family men; Rosario has 2 kids and Denilson has a newborn (7 months at the time of this article). Collectively our most difficult decision was deciding that we were willing to pay the “price” to turn our dream into a reality. Leaving the security of our high paying careers and jumping into the unpredictable world of entrepreneurship was and a scary moment, the long hours, the money spent, the time away from our families, the blood (literally), the sweat, and tears needed to build our shop was tough. We jumped out of a plane with no parachute and built a glider on the way down using only the clothes on our backs.

We had to battle naysayers, well-to-do family members advice, coworkers, and friends who questioned why we would give up our current job security and safety-net when we have so many responsibilities and no guarantees that the business would be a success.

On top of that, we’re adamant about ownership and not taking on any debt or giving up any percentage of our business to outside investors so we paid our investments out of pocket to ensure that we have 100% ownership of our brand.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are the owners of R&D Deluxe, LLC a Detailing & Hand Car Wash located in the Alpharetta/Roswell area. What separates us from most businesses in our industry is 3 parts:

Customer Service:
We make it a mission to treat EVERY customer like a family member and give our best efforts to remember names. We are local guys and think that getting your car detailed should be an experience and not just a chore, we want our customers to feel at home when they visit R&D Deluxe.

Attention to DETAILING:
What we’ve noticed in our industry that made us get into the detailing business is that most car washes focus on time and not quality. We live in a society where it’s all about the bottom line, which is fair. At R&D Deluxe we’re more focused on quality, attention to details, and continuous improvement. We have the certifications to be considered experts but we still consider ourselves students of the game. We always encourage feedback and dialogue from our clients to ensure that we are growing in our craft and giving the people what they want. our favorite compliment is “our car looks better than when we first bought it!”

Good Vibes:
We’re still in the beginning stages of the building our the Carwash according to our vision. Our goal is for our shop to eventually be a hang out spot where people come to not just get their cars detailed but to also network and have a good time. We have an amazing playlist (According to Denilson), and have partnerships with local businesses for discounts and giveaways for customers. Our goal is to be the “Cheers” of hand car washes.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely the Avalon, the Avalon is the staple of Alpharetta. So many shops, restaurants, and activities to do at the Avalon. In the winter time Ice Skating is a must.

Northpoint Mall is also a great local mall for shopping and having quality time with the family and the kids. There are plenty of parks and recreation in the area, one of our favorite local parks is Newtown Park, so many activities, trails, and work out stations at this park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Rosario: First and foremost I owe it all to God, my wife for always supporting and dreaming with me, my mother, my brothers and sisters, my close friends, The Angolan Entrepreneur Association of Atlanta, and last but not least my business partner Denilson.

Denilson:
I was fortunate to have friends and family who always believed in me and my abilities; A special shoutout to those that had a hand in helping us build the car wash: Bernie, Ike, Rivaldo, Shivela, Tiago, Gavin, Ti Miguel, Tre, and LaDereke for once again being one of my first customers. Lastly to my business partner Rosario, he’s the man with the plan we work well together like the 90s Bulls (I’m Jordan of course lol). A book that really inspired me was “The Psychology of Money.”
