We had the good fortune of connecting with Ron Godfrey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ron, what do you attribute your success to?
There are three important factors, but the one that is most important is keeping God first in everything I do. The other two factors are being committed and remaining consistent because without commitment, you’ll never start. More importantly, without consistency, you’ll never finish.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When it comes to my art as a creative, I am an actor. What sets me apart from others is I have no desire to be like others. I have a desire to trailblaze a lane of my own that will inspire others to do the same when it comes to their craft.

I am excited and proud about where I am today in my career. This year alone, I have been blessed to be nominated in 5 different categories and win 2 categories of awards across three different award show platforms. One of those awards includes the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Black I AM Awards. The award is signed by President Biden and I am due to receive this honor on October 29, 2022, in Atlanta, GA.

No, this journey was not easy. While working towards accomplishing my career goals, I had to endure challenges within my personal life, one being my six-year-old son being diagnosed with brain cancer in December of 2021. However, through the grace of God, I continued to grind and I have conquered.

The lesson I want people to learn is to not take life for granted. Life isn’t promised to us so we have to treat it as if we have minutes left to live.

The brand is ‘Grind and Conquer.’ The brand’s message transcends across all aspects of life and I want this brand and the apparel to be a daily reminder that no matter what has transpired in your life and no matter where you come from, or when you decide to start, it’s never too late. Believe it or not, the brand and its message came to me while working out one day. I didn’t feel like getting it in at the gym that day, but that message was dropped in my spirit and that was shortly after I woke up one day and just decided to become an actor. The ‘Grind and Conquer’ mindset has gotten me to where I am today and after only 10 years, I am starring in roles with well-known actors and actresses in major films, series, and on major platforms that include but are not limited to Hulu, Tubi, Prime, allblk, HBOmax, and more.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to the Studio Cigar Lounge and The Patio Social Club in Smyrna, GA. The Cheesecake factory would definitely be a stop for one of the best places to eat. I found the Georgia Aquarium exciting, so that would definitely be a place I would take my guest.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my son, Jeremiah, who is recovering from his battle with brain cancer. I chose him because he exemplifies the meaning of my brand which is ‘Grind & Conquer.’
