We had the good fortune of connecting with Roman Xzavier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roman, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I didn’t choose to be an artist, being an artist chose me. Iv always been in the light as a kid growing up to performing in middle school and high school. It just came to me and I fell in love with being able to entertain others while doing what I love.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a child I always knew I was different. I knew that I was going to be the OutKast. I knew I was going to be the rebel. I knew I was born to be a star. I stay true to myself and set goals for myself. When people ask me do I rap, I say “no” I’m an artist. Over the time I remember I use to look for places to perform and now I have people reaching out to me to perform. Becoming an artist isn’t a trend for me this is my life, this is my career. I had 4 performances in one day back to back to back and it felt like a movie that I never wanted to end. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy but I knew that I was going to over the challenges. Over time everyone will know my name and know that every time I hit a stage I’m coming to perform and entertain.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Everyone know I’m the life of the party so when my people get into time I’m their tour guide, my favorite places I like to go to is Piedmont Park and then the belt-line so we would start their because we can walk or get on a scooter and they have a lot of restaurants and bars on the belt-line. I also like going to ponce city market to the very top so we would pull up there too. Then at night hit a couple of bars grab some drinks and after that the night is still young so as long as they can hang then we turning up.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Becoming an independent artist isn’t easy but it also isn’t hard if you are staying true to yourself and taking it serious but also having fun. Over the time a lot of people has given me opportunities, just to name a few, Taste of soul Festival, Pure Heat Festival, Raggstar Records, Zackory Kirk, Juju, Corey Knott, Brandon Cowens and many more festivals and individuals who has given me chances to show case my talent. Thank you.
