We had the good fortune of connecting with Rodrick Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rodrick, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Consistency and uniqueness. Over the years I’ve been developing my own distinct sound and style of playing that believe would standout and capture the people’s attention.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One the most exciting things about it all is knowing that my gift touches people. Being a professional guitarist and stepping onto the “big stage” has been my dream since I was 5 years old. The journey hasn’t been easy but I definitely learned a lot along the way, definitely want to thank Mr.Rick Scott for teaching me that you have to make sacrifices and jump right in it go for what you want. I think one of my biggest challenges was wondering if I was good enough, but I learned that if work hard enough, always continue to perfect your craft, never stop learning and just be you that can be successful. Definitely good to learn from others but don’t compare yourself. Working hard and working on being comfortable and confident in what you do will pay off. I just want the world to know that no matter where you come from, no matter how tough your journey may be, no matter how many “no’s” you may get, that if you believe in yourself, stay focused and never give up that you can definitely reach your goals.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely would have to check out BB King’s Blues Club, they have great and great live entertainment. If you love Jazz music 1048 Jazz & Blues would be a go to!. Can’t go wrong with El Jalisco’s Mexican Restaurant
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely want to thank God for my gift. I want to thank all of the artists and other musicians who have given me so many opportunities to share and showcase my talent. I want to thank all of my supporters, friends and family who have encouraged me 100% on this journey.
