We had the good fortune of connecting with Rodney Page and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rodney, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
I don’t think people are aware of how much work it takes to run your own business. It not only takes a lot of work, but it also takes a lot of time and energy.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a freelance musician. I have been playing violin for 37 years at church events, weddings, and anniversary parties. I am most proud of the fact that I run my business with integrity and I treat all of my clients with respect. The challenges I faced in starting my own business is that I had no business experience. I was a music education major at Michigan State University and through trial and error, I figured out how to start and maintain my own business. The biggest lesson I learned is to be kind to others. That will help you get far in whatever business you are in.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to visit the campus of Michigan State University. It is a beautiful campus and there is so much to do there. We could get ice cream and view the beautiful Red Cedar River. For dinner I would take them to Bowdies Chophouse. I love the food there.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this to and my wife. She has been so supportive of me throughout the years and I couldn’t do what I do without her unwavering support.
