We had the good fortune of connecting with Rodney Dorcemont and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rodney, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired to make my family proud and give tribute to my mom’s memory. I was 12 when she passed away. I grew up in a household with just my dad and 2 siblings, me being the youngest. I have learned a lot from my dad, and have expounded upon his example to do and be even more. My dad is old school, he was a hard worker back then and I have adopted the values he had taught me throughout my upbringing which I stay true to today: Passion, drive, picking up the slack and not asking for thanks, I just “do”. These days, my younger brother, Kayden has added an extra bit of motivation for me to be a great example and leader for the next generation to come.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets you apart?

I would say my authentic passion for impacting my community, giving back – particularly to those facing
adversity. I can rest easy because my effort is second to none. If I give over 110% consistently every day, I know I am doing all I can to make a difference.
I developed a motto called #WeDoThis. It stands for We Elevate Daily, Obedience, Tireless, Hardworking, Inspiring, Strength. I want to point out the inclusiveness of saying “we”. #WeDoThis translates to the impact I want to see in the world. It’s bigger than me.

How did you get to where you are today?

Honestly, I’d rather talk about my experience than my accolades, so I appreciate this question. I am a former student athlete. Unfortunately I was injured ending my athletic career and returned home. My mentor Mel told me to start working out with some of my old teammates that were still in high school. Mel entrusted me to lead some of the workouts, and sooner then later, I began leading them full time. It was amazing – from the beginning I knew that leading others was meant for me. Following breaking into the training world, I transitioned into coaching youth and high school levels in football and sports performance training. All the while, I was training anywhere I could: in my neighborhood, local gyms, and different parks in my area. This was a focus on my development as a trainer, and not designed to profit me. Following Covid, I started my own LLC, which is called Brave Forever, LLC. The name of my LLC was inspired by mom because of her last name: Brave. As you can see, this all traces back to my “why”. I have recently coached within different programs around the North Fulton area. Currently, I am coaching cornerbacks at Alpharetta High School. This year, I met Dustyn Moore thru a mutual client, but have known of him since 2020, I followed him closely and admired his business acumen and skill set as a trainer. Dustyn hired me on as his first performance coach when he opened his first gym: MooreSports Performance, which opened in October 2022.

Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?

No, it definitely wasn’t easy. Life is full of adversity, I understand ups and downs will always happen. I have a strong support system from people that encourage and challenge me to continue to put my best foot forward on this journey called life. Perseverance is one of my strengths that I count and lean on. If I get the opportunity to see the sun rise another day, my mindset has always been to continue putting a foot in front of another foot and keep going. That is how I’ve overcome any challenge I’ve been faced with.

What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?

Some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way are how to teach others. The old saying goes treat others as you’d like to be treated. I like to say make the impact that you want to see around the world. Leave your imprint and everlasting positive impact on others that you come across, especially the youth. The next generation is so important, they look up and follow as we show and lead them. I’ve also learned a lot about myself. As I am helping individuals on their fitness and/or athletic journey, they are helping me learn about myself as a leader and influencer. I get to meet people from different backgrounds, learn different perspectives, & see what motivates people to do what they do.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

What I want the world to know is #WeDoThis. Wake up everyday with a mindset and work ethic to leave a positive impact on others and grow together. I want the world to know about how selfless I am and how I care about “we” and not just me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I enjoy the company of my friends and don’t go out much, but for an eventful week I’d take a hike and site see at either the Roswell Mill, Kennesaw Mountain, or Stone Mountain. I’d visit the Avalon for shopping & dinner. For breakfast/brunch, I’d eat at Flying Biscuit Cafe or Red Pepper Taqueria. Fun hang out spots I’d take my best friend to are Top Golf, Main Event, and/or Fairway Social.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My former football coach, Jermale Ransby. He is my mentor and a great friend. He made a huge impact on me during my football years that I continually reference to impression upon my clients. I want to mirror his positive influence and wisdom in my life, both personally and professionally.
