Meet Rockstar EV | Rocket Scientist & Rockstar

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rockstar EV and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rockstar, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I have an aerospace engineering degree from a top 7 engineering university in the nation. I quit my job to pursue music full time. That was an incredibly huge risk for me to take at the time but I knew I really wanted to give music a try while I was still young. It has been a rough road but things are finally starting to come together and I have a huge sense of fulfillment. I had to take a huge risk to get an ever-growing reward.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So my bio reads “Rocket Scientist turned Rockstar”. I received a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign which is dubbed a rocket scientist degree. I traveled to Guam and Japan doing GIS engineering work for the military. I then pivoted into following my passion to be a rockstar guitarist. I also own my own STEM tutoring services. None of this was easy. I definitely had to persevere because I lacked the resources and education many of my professional counterparts had. I like to believe I’m a patient person so if I keep trying, eventually something will work out for me. Maybe I’m just delusional (lol) but it keeps my head in the game and keeps me optimistic. I honestly believe you can manifest the things that you want by putting that energy into the universe and doing the work it takes to get there. The world will move aside for you. I want everyone to know I’m a guy from the Southside of Chicago that is coming to get what he deserves by putting his best foot forward.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Chicago is a big city with endless fun. With that being said, I don’t go out much besides for my gigs (lol). I would definitely take my friend to go get some Sharks or JJs and have them order a 6 piece wing fried extra hard with lemon pepper. We would also go downtown just to stroll around, sight see, and get some drinks from a rooftop bar depending on the time of the year.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely shout out my immediate family and my girlfriend! After observing the success of other guitarists, I’ve realized it’s not always about talent. Sometimes it’s a culmination of who you know, the type of energy you bring, and the will to never quit that makes you achieve your dreams. I’ve felt like giving up so many times during this journey but my family and girlfriend have definitely kept my head in the game!
