We had the good fortune of connecting with Robin Sha’Von and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Robin, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My work life balance has changed a lot. I am currently a full time advanced esthetician student , while also working for myself as a lash artist. I decided to go to school to learn new things so I can also add new services. I love to learn and keep myself updated on new techniques & different ways to market my business. Starting school was exciting , it was trying to get adjusted to my new schedule for me. But I know the outcome will be well worth it. With just 3 more month left until I graduate, I remain focused and determined to show up everyday and do my best.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work ethic , attitude & professionalism sets me apart from others. I have very good customer service skills and I put my all in my work. I am most proud of my journey I am currently on. I have had a few bumps in the road but I never let it stop me from going after I want. I got to where I am today, by staying consistent & not looking at everyone comparing me to them. I stayed focused on me and my brand only. I’ve met really good people along the way, taking lash courses and building new relationships. It has not always been easy though, life comes at you at an unexpected time but with faith you have to know that everything happens for a reason, and god timing is always on point. Lessons I learned along the way is to never get to comfortable, and know you can not please everyone. There are going to be good days and bad days but never let that determined how your day is going to be.
Not only did I start my business because I love making woman feel good about themselves, but it also helped me mentally. In 2018 a traumatizing event took place in my life, where I could’ve died lost my life been taking away from my love ones. But god wasn’t ready for me yet and for that I will forever be blessed and grateful to be alive. It left me traumatized and giving me bad anxiety. So lashing became very therapeutic and has helped me mentally. I fell in love with lashing and the brand I created. I enjoy going to work, seeing my ladies and just either talking or vibing out. I put my all in my work & hope one to be a celebrity lash artist. I also plan to add mircoshading to my services due to brows and lashing being two of the things I enjoy doing. I plan to take my brand to the next level
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A weekend long trip and my best friend is coming to the city, a few places we would go of course would be somewhere good to eat. Who doesn’t like some good ol’ soul food, so we would go to this spot called grille55. It has amazing soul food and the drinks are good as well. We would hit the mall to grab something to wear for the night cause of course we are gonna go downtown and hit some bars and maybe hang out on the rooftop at The 9. On Sunday we would then go to this new and nice spot for brunch called Fin & Feathers. Nice music , good food & we cant forget about the mimosas.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout and thank my husband. He has been my biggest supporter. Since 2018, I always wanted to do lash extensions, but I procrastinated and let time pass me by, So A few months before we got married (2019), I sat with him and told him I really wanted to take a lash class. My husband paid for my lash class and have been supporting me since day 1. He always let me know how proud he is of me. With only doing lashes for 6 months, I was able to find my own studio it has been nothing but blessings every since. My family has also supported me since I started my lash business, and I thank them for that as well.
