We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Reum and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robert, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I would have to contribute that to by working at Backstreet Atlanta a 24/7 gay nightclub in the early 90’s and until it closed in 2004. I would promote myself with fliers throughout club before I was spinning on that particular weekend.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a working professional DJ with 3 decades of experience. Renowned for my signature sound that incorporates an intoxicating blend of contemporary and classic dance music.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Little five points is one of Atlanta’s hippest neighborhoods. It has a variety of Indies stores for offbeat vintage clothing, vinyl and cool gifts. They also have dive bars, burger joints and Ethiopian and vegan eateries that line the surrounding streets.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I like to give a shoutout to Bobby Copeland for giving me the opportunity to spin at Backstreet.
