Meet Rob Cook | Van Michael Salon Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rob Cook and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rob, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I actually came to VanMichael Salon with the shared vision with Van and Michael Council, of not only wanting to be considered the best in our industry – but also with the idea to raise the bar for our entire industry. They had already started the business. Therefore, I was invited to be a contributor and partner in helping create systems, open two locations and education manuals for technical staff.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I learned from being around the best in the industry. Starting with Van and Michael Council and having the opportunity to watch, learn and be inspired daily by them and the amazing talent around me in our company.
Reading books, articles and posts consistently for visual inspiration and knowledge in every aspect of business and organization. I’ve learned as a creative that you have to always see the beauty, form, design and creativity – look past and through.
Our brand always has been and always will be that we want to blow clients and craftsmen away with our creative skill, our collaborative personality and sharing education.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
During the week, dinners at Lyla Lila, Zakai, Rumi’s Kitchen, Amore e Amore, The Alden, Lucien, Cafe Anis, The Garden Room

Hanging out at Van Michael Salon, Ponce City Market, Atlanta Beltline, Trails along the Chattahootchee, Top Golf, Downtown museums and the aquarium.
White water on the Ocoee, Chattooga or Cartecay rivers
Mountain biking at Blankets Creek, Chicopee or Tsali trails.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes, nothing Van Michael has achieved wouldn’t have been without the commitment of our entire stafff and resource team. I would love to dedicate this shoutout to and also offer a shoutout to my kids Aaron, Kai and Sienna. – for their inspiration from always believing in me, trusting the process and being such great individuals.
