We had the good fortune of connecting with Riingo Applee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Riingo, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Something that I always say is:
There are at least 6 crayons in a crayon box. They are all different colors and each represent something different. We as people, are like crayons. We share some of the same similarities, though no one or none of our skills are exactly the same.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Designing and producing clothes has molded me into being a true artist. Before I had the skill to design my own pieces, clothes from the store used to fit me like they actually were for me . Seeing everyone express themselves and their personalities through their clothing and accessories really made me feel like I needed to make a change because my clothes didn’t really represent me at all. So I took the time to learn how to make what I want. And to this day I am getting more and more detailed on how I would like to be presented through the garments that I wear!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I could take a friend out for a day, we would start out at my most favorite fabric store in Pilsen Il. “Discount Textile Outlet” so that we could gaze upon all of the different fabrics and materials that make us comfortable today. We can pick something out that we could see ourselves wearing. Then we could go to the Hibachi Grill so the we could have a fresh lunch cooked the way you’d like for it to be and hopefully the meal would give you energy to have a nice drink downtown while vibing and listening to music along with other people that are there for all the same reasons we are.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d really like to nominate Karen Tracey. Her designing and confidence in her fashion shows really inspired me to be the guy that I am today
