We had the good fortune of connecting with Ricquan Roberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ricquan, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Pursuing an artistic or creative career can be a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. It challenges individuals to think outside the box, experiment with new ideas, and continuously refine their craft. I was drawn to it in a way. Expressing myself through music has always been a passion for me. A feeling that cant be replicated , like a first high almost. I could never see myself as another cog in the machine.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My music is an unapologetic look into my mind and what’s going on in my life. It’s where I express my emotions , whether I’m happy , sad , or in between. I think the thing that sets me apart from others is that, you can’t put me in a box musically . Some days I don’t wanna be a rapper , and I’ll make 4 R&B ballads. Some days I hear Morgan Wallen on the radio and I want to make something with country twang to it. Some times I hear Burna Boy at the club and I want to go make afro beats. I give myself the freedom to make whatever I want whenever I want. I got where I am by being this way. My journey hasn’t been easy nor is it even anywhere close to being over. There are a lot of things I would’ve done different when I look back at it but everything happens for a reason whether we like it or not. I’m still working on overcoming the challenges and politics of this industry but that wont stop me from doing what I love. Over the course of time , I’ve learned that creating what you want to create is all that matters. Block out all the noise and just be yourself, Your never going to get the support your looking for from anybody but yourself. And as far what I want the world to know , is that the “Uncle Ricq” chapter of my life was some of the greatest times of my but I always knew I would eventually have to evolve. This new era is going to be something to remember but I’ll let the music speak for itself

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m honestly not from Atlanta so I might not be the best person for this haha. But I’m gonna have to say Magic City for all three. My last time there was damn near a out of body experience

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would give all credit to my mother and god. I wouldn’t where I am today without them. I was raised by a queen. Without her hard work and dedication lord knows where I would be.
