We had the good fortune of connecting with Rico & Stefanie Paschal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rico & Stefanie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It really wasn’t a thought lol We were already been established as a t-shirt business but once covid-19 hit. Our business took a pivot. Our little cousin was graduating high school in New Orleans but the world was shut down. I had this vision of creating a jumbo message that read “Congrats Aliyah….Class of 2020”. I printed the letters and applied to to corrugated plastic signs. I hand cut each letter which was probably the worse part! Purchased some stakes and that was the start. Our immediate family took a picture standing around the words and that was the birth of “YardPartyATL” ! We had neighbors and motorist stop us to ask if we could do the same from their 2020 graduate. Then we began booking like crazy!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At the time of our launch we learned of other yard card companies that did not service the South Side of Atlanta. Boom! There is a wide open market! We will cover the south! We received a lot of praise as South Fulton residents who were not able to book due to lack of companies servicing South Atlanta. Once word was out that there was company now servicing South Atlanta…Things took off!! From May – August we were pretty much booked through the week. Yard Party ATL is nothing cookie cutter. Each Yard Party is custom to the special individual that is being honored. We play close attention to details. That really makes a difference and shows the customer two things: 1) We are listening 2) We really want the event to be just as successful as they do! Yard Party ATL specializes in black yard art such as characters and culture. We are family owned and operated with the best helpers ever – our beautiful daughters Layla & Savannah We are learning about all types of grass and rain boots are necessary.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well with Covid the hottest spot right now is our very entertaining backyard! We would definitely hit up Cycle Gang Studio for an amazing bike ride! During the day we would hit up the belt line with a little Ponce Market action. Night life would take place at SunTrust park. And if its football we are definitely hitting up a “Falcons Meeting” tailgate for the best music and vibes in Atlanta!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We want to give the biggest shout out to God!!!! Thank you for your words, patience and unconditional love. We want to give thanks to our very first “YardPartyATL” customer Steven Robinson !! He believed in us knowing he was our first customer. That alone gave us the encouragement to book more yard parties and optimism that we are on to something! Brandi Nora, Owner of Bmemorable events for helping along this journey. We are thankful our friends and family whos selflessly share our work on social and send referrals. YOU are the real MVP’s!! Our mentor Rueben Battie who continues to share knowledge of sign making and how we can grow our business.
