We had the good fortune of connecting with Rickey Banks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rickey, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
We believe a big portion of our success comes from the impact of long-term client and trainer relationships. We pride ourselves on the high level of commitment and knowledge of our trainers.
Providing great customer service is no longer the responsibility of just one person but all of us. Today it’s called “customer experience,” and everyone at SFX Fitness is responsible for exceeding expectations.
We want our current and future members to identify with our brand which represents commitment, consistency, and dedication from our staff.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about.
I’m most proud of the friendships and partnerships I’ve created over the years. I believe in respect and trust which which translates into great work ethic.
How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
I’m at a great place in life both personally and professionally. I believe this stems from setting goals and prioritizing the important things. I believe in life experiences, some harder than others, but overall an important part of life that we learn and grow from.
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way.
I’ve learned that’s it’s okay to fail, especially at an early age. Trial and error creates growth and you need both to succeed. Failure makes you stronger as long as you learn from it and don’t repeat.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I am only successful as the people I surround myself with. We at SFX Fitness are only as successful as our clients around us.
I base my values off of trust, faith, and dedication and treat everyone with the same values of respect. We a small fish in a big ocean and believe we are making a difference one client at a time.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the uniqueness of Atlanta as major metropolitan city being so close to the tranquility of the mountains and lakes of North Georgia.
Our first day or two would be up north both on Lake Lanier, as well as visiting the beautiful and tranquil wineries up in Dahlonega.
I also enjoy the culture and uniqueness of downtown Roswell hitting some of my favorite spots such as Provisions and several locally owned restaurants, all which provide a unique dining experience with amazing food.
We would experience several shopping destinations in the area starting with Avalon and the Premium outlets in Dawsonville. Both outdoor centers are designed to have a nice day outside with great stores and dining in the fresh air.
Lastly, we would enjoy the breath of the City including the Beltline starting at the Ponce City Market as well as the history and culture of the Fox Theater, Old Fourth Ward, and the MLK Center.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, The biggest credit for my success is my parents John and Alla Mea Banks. I come from a family of 8 siblings and our parents saw us as equal members of the family and instilled the importance and value of hard work, faith and respect of others. They gave us enough freedom and encouragement to use our own judgment (with the right amount of discipline), working hard to own our future and follow our dreams.
I give additional credit to each of my sibling’s and close friends, all with their own set of unique strengths. From our young age, we were all competitive in sports and now as adults, we continue to support, motivate, and inspire each other on a professional level.
My favorite book is the Bible, specifically the Book of Job from the Old Testament. It taught me faith, failure, and consistency which are the essential parts of life.
What I’ve come to realize is that growing up with entrepreneurial parents and siblings has instilled some very useful values in me — and I didn’t even fully realize it until I became an entrepreneur myself.
