We had the good fortune of connecting with Rickelle Felton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rickelle, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Anytime you present a new business or concept to the world you’re taking a risk. You’re revealing and exposing a part of you that people may or may not support. You’re taking a financial risk just as much as a personal risk. I’ve never been afraid to take a risk. The biggest regrets and failures lie in things undone and unsaid. Investing in something can be a scary thing. You’re putting your money where your passion is. The upside is that there’s a really good chance that taking a calculated risk may pay off for you. Fortunately for us, taking a risk has led to a brand that speaks to women and gives them a place where they see themselves and feel comfortable being themselves. We look forward to GRL, Hold Up being a household name!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Starting the GRL, Hold Up podcast was a natural progression from my Get It Done Boss talk series, “Let’s Talk About It. Professionally I help people get it done. I help business owners and individuals reach their goals. I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve consistently been able to help entrepreneurs and now women in multiple ways. Entrepreneurs and women have layers that require different avenues of assistance to help them get to the next level. It’s impossible to ignore that in addition to the business and financial needs of the business owner that they also have emotional needs. GRL, Hold Up is the Girls Night Out version of a podcast. Women can tune in and let their hair down while we unwind with topics that they can relate to and grow from. I feel like I’ve reached the point in business and creatively where I can do all the things that I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve done all the hustling, experimenting and put in the time so that now I can relax a little and enjoy the creative side of business. Over time, I’ve learned that you have to work hard first so you can play later. Preparation and investing in your craft always reaps the benefits of adding value to your brand that your clients can appreciate. I want the world to know that GRL. Hold up was built on a foundation of experience and knowledge in business, media and women’s empowerment. When you tune in on Monday and  you can trust that we have our GRLies best interests at heart!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The “Best Time Ever” itinerary for Atlanta includes lots of food, music, art and bossing up! If my best friend was visiting the city, I would start with a 2 in 1 package deal with “Rock Steady” where you can get the perfectly whole fried red snapper with caribbean rice, cole slaw and fried plantain with a pitcher of rum punch. After you’ve enjoyed your dinner you can head upstairs to dance the calories off and the night away! Day two would start at “Thumbs Up Diner”. for the salmon omelette with spinach and cream cheese and mimosas, then a 2 mile walk around the beautiful “Westside Reservoir Park”. Day 3 would be a great day to catch a comedy show with hot wings and cocktails at “Uptown Comedy Corner”. Day 4 would be spent at the beautiful “High Museum”. Their exhibits are always the perfect backdrop for eye catching content and once a month they have jazz Fridays! On day 5 I would finish the visit with a power packed networking event at one of the multiple co-working spaces that Atlanta has to offer, sending my bestie off with a bang! Atlanta always has the most interesting places to go with the opportunity to meet some of the most amazing people!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this Shoutout to my co-host BevyJae! We met in January of this year and she’s the inspiration behind the GRL, Hold Up podcast. GRL, Hold Up is all about women’s empowerment, women’s physical and mental health, relationships, dating, motherhood, spirituality, lifestyle, fashion and everything woman related. BevyJae has helped women all around the country with her Elev8her brand. After seeing the passion she had for helping women, it inspired me to do more in my life to help more women. I pitched the idea of the podcast to Bevy and she graciously accepted my invitation as well as took on the role and responsibility as creative director and producer. God connected us in January and I’m so excited about what’s in store for our future!
