We had the good fortune of connecting with Richie Nelson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Richie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I’m a firm believer of ‘No risk no reward’ If you’re not willing to dive off the cliff for the things you want, then you may not want them as bad as you think.

Andrew Carnegie risked going into mass amount of debt to fund and construct the Eads Bridge. Not only did that risk lead to the completion of the bridge, but his groundbreaking idea to use steel completely changed how buildings were designed and constructed even now..

You HAVE to risk it for the important things. The entire world could be waiting on that risk and you’d never know

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The diversity of my music sets me apart from others. One minute you’re vibing to something slow and soulful and then next minute it feels like your in the club throwing back drinks..

What sets me apart professionally is willingness to network with all creators. A lot of artist in my field tend to only reach out to other recoding artists when it’s just as important to build a rapport with producers, DJs, and curators

Some of the lessons I’ve picked up along the way is make sure you to stay consistent and visible. You have to be your biggest fan and promoter even with the content that isn’t your personal favorite. Presentation is also important so make sure any content attached your brand is of the highest possible quality.

I want to use the craft I love so much to show the world the side of me no one really sees. Anything after that is definitely a plus

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a super homebody I’m never good at these things. But I’d def take them Bahama Breeze since it’s the only one in the entire state.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
