We had the good fortune of connecting with Rich Camacho and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rich, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from Irvington, NJ. A small town off the outskirts of Newark, NJ (which back in the 90’s was the stolen car capital of America). I’m from a place designed for someone like me “not” to make it out. What I mean by someone like me is; a person of color. A minority, if you will. Both of my parents are Puerto Rican and were born in New York, Dad from Brooklyn & Mom from the Bronx. Growing up was more trying to learn how to survive in my environment than it was more enjoying being a child. Don’t get me wrong, my parents were loving to my sister and I and provided us with all they could give, but needless to say, we never got out of the hood until after I went to college in 1998, 20 years after I was born. I refused to be a statistic based off what the system painted our lives out to be. I wasn’t supposed to make it out (per the system) but I did. My background is simple. Loving parents who didn’t have much but taught me what the true value of life was; family.
Today, I am a married man of 17 years with 5 children, 2 dogs and a beautiful home on the top of the hill of a cul de sac. I am living what you call “The American Dream”, but what may be a dream to most, is just a stepping stone for me because I believe abundance is my birth right and I intend to get it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m incredibly proud of my creative accomplishments. Each of them in their own right have played pivotal roles in who I am as a person and who I am as a businessman. My book was picked up by a Publishing Company in Wales, London-UK back in 2019. Entitled, Mentally Organized Business, it was released on June 2, 2020. Unfortunately, I did not get to enjoy the release like an author usually does with tours and book signings because the world was in a standstill with the pandemic. So, that wasn’t fun. Nevertheless, I have completed the 2nd one and am hopeful of it’s release this summer and am working on the 3rd as we speak. The book is a novel based series based loosely on my life and actual events that have transpired.
Of course it is all with a twist of alias names and fabrication but I like to call it a semi-autobiography in all honesty. As far as its’ theme?- think The Sopranos meets Family Guy= this generation’s Harlem Nights!
It’s literally the only formulaic equation I can come up with.

I am also the host to the greatest podcast you haven’t experienced yet; The Greatest F.O.E. Podcast. F.O.E. being an acronym for Form Of Expression. The show is in both video and audio production currently and we are looking at a formal launch this spring.
My co-host and panel members discuss the hip hop culture in ways you’ve never heard and/or experienced covering all aspects of the culture itself as well as interviewing different kinds of creatives as we dive into their lives and find out what their “Greatest F.O.E.” is and why.

I feel what separates me from most is my undying will & passion to NOT be like anyone else. Most people who know me will tell you that I am a different breed of person. I’d like to think my GOD given ability to tap into my imagination and write songs (I use to be a hip hop artist myself- a long time ago in a galaxy far far away) books, and even screenplays, all have a common denominator; the art of storytelling.

FUN FACT: I am a MASSIVE wrestling fan! Professional Wresting is a beautiful art using real people to paint a STORY on the canvas of 20×20 wrestling ring while taking us on an emotional roller coaster. If you get it: I love you. If you don’t; I don’t know what to tell you (and I probably don’t like you, let alone love you). I’m joking. (Am I?)

I was recently told that I have the ability to move people. That was very humbling to hear from someone unbiased; thus cementing me with the notion that I will continue to be me. I will continue to be the genuine article. I will continue to do things to create an impact on others while simultaneously working on being better than I was yesterday by telling the world that it is perfectly fine to be who YOU are.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Maaaan, that would depend on the occasion. The Red Phone Booth is awesome in downtown Atlanta. It is the perfect scene for business men and women to kick back with after closing deals all day. My fellow private money lenders and investors know EXACTLY what I’m talking about!

The Cigar Bar in Snellville is amazing as well. My inner circle have been there many times to smoke on some fine cigars and enjoy some delicious food. The wings are ridiculous by the way.

McCray’s in Lawrenceville is a roof top bar/restaurant overlooking the downtown area. Great scene and food/drinks makes for a great evening.

Also, the Social Proof Podcast is shot in Chamblee at The Creative Clubhouse and that is spot you need to visit. I’ve been many times because my mentor is one of the hosts! Hey Donni 🙂 – her cohost, affectionately known as The Podcast King, David Shands is my brother (in my head) and I am speaking it into existence that he will help me take my podcast to amazing heights. (Yo, Dave let’s set that up – please?)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I feel like this is the moment when your favorite artist took 20 hours to put all of their “thank yous” in the CD insert that we all loved to read. No? Just me? Okay, I’m sorry. Your childhood was not gratifying :/

My parents My wife and my children go without saying. I have had an amazing support/belief system embedded in me from them and I am truly humbled by GOD for blessing me with their lives.

My mentors Donni Wiggins (ATL), Xavier J. Powell (NJ) and my business partners Joe Castaneda & Nicole Hines (ATL) have all played integral parts in WHO I am and better yet, WHO I’m becoming. I’ll never be able to thank you guys as much as I’d like to.
