We had the good fortune of connecting with Ricardo Wrice and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ricardo, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is consistency. In Atlanta, media is everywhere! From podcast to webseries, you see a little bit of everything. Everyday, I hear or see a new show or podcast debuting. It became imperative, that I learned how to stay above the fray. It didn’t take long to discover that the most distinguishing factor is consistency! Particularly in the content creation section or creative space. The idea that your audience can depend on your content being on the same day, at the same day is vital. I have watched individuals start a show and in less than a month they have disappeared. Consistency is the hardest thing to maintain if passion isn’t present. As a result, I continuously remind myself that inconsistency is a dream killer and I’m too far in to fall victim.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the Founder and CEO of the Leadership Blend Media Company based in Atlanta, Georgia. My company encompasses a Television show, live podcast and a magazine. I am also a published author and Organizational Leadership Strategist. My media is different primarily due to the type of content that we create. Our motto is “People are over entertained and undereducated”. It is our belief, that the average joe should understand the decisions that are being made on his behalf by leaders across the board. I am most excited about the manner by which we facilitate conversations led by prominent leaders and how we present it to our audience in a very dissected fashion. My journey is one that has been filled with trial and error. Creating an outlet that is not “entertainment” based has been a very eventful task. I arrived as this point because I refused to conform to being just another comedic / musical outlet. At my core, I have always been an educator and creating this outlet has allowed me to help empower the everyday individual. For example, learning how to make a conversation with a politician insightful and understandable was a challenge. My main challenge was presenting meaningful dialogue with leaders that wasn’t condescending nor “over people’s head”. I wanted to create programming that was informational but easy to digest. Ultimately, I learned that being my authentic self on screen was my own personal recipe for success. I want the world to know that I am the male Oprah facilitating necessary and hard conversations for our time period. My platform will help create new change agents and force people to take an active interest in their surroundings / communities.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest inspiration came from my former pastor Dr. Joan A. Youmans from Walterboro, South Carolina. I have always had really great parents and was raised in the suburbs of Hampton, South Carolina. My parentals, gave me the liberty to take the journey to self discovery on my own. When I encountered Dr. Youmans, I was a mouthy, overly intelligent, arrogant young man heading nowhere fast. She was able to see past my exterior and identify my potential. She made it her mission to stay on me everyday until eventually I connected with my purpose. Under her tutelage, I received my almost four degrees and began zeroing in on my life’s plan. I am where I am today because she was willing to make the investment into my future.
