We had the good fortune of connecting with Rica McGinester and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rica, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I tried to make sure my plan was well put together and that it was effective for the audience i wanted to draw in.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I chose the name Passionate Caregivers because this is a definitely a Passion of mine. This is not just a business for me, I consider it a privilege to work with each client. I do this because i love it. I went with caregivers because i will not only employee CNAs but caregivers with the same passion as me. What sets me apart is that I provide the best care at all times and I my prices are a lot lower than most. It’s not about the money for me. Getting where i am today was nothing short of stressful, but i refuse to quit. It has not been easy but i know i due time it will be better than the day before. The main Challenges is trying to find good help, but the ladies that work for/with me now are some of the best. Lessons I’ve learned is making sure you know everything you need to know about a business before you start. I thought I knew everything there was to know about caregiving until i got started but it has all worked out in my favor and i am very thankful for that. I want the world to know that Passionate Caregivers is fairly new, but if you want GREAT quality care, we are the ones to call. You will not be disappointed in your decision. Passionate Caregivers will be nationally known for how great my caregivers and CNAs are and how great of workers they are, myself included. Passionate Caregivers Motto: Always be Punctual, Presentable, & Professional at all times.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely start by going to Longhorn, Pappadueax, or Chuys mainly for the drinks… We typically like to frequent New Orleans to have fun. We like to drink the hand grenades there. But most of the hot spots are on the south side here so we go bar hop there. so that would be something we would do.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout my family, they are behind me 100% for sure. My kids (Ayden & LaKenya) motivate me to keep going. My mother, Barbara Taylor. She motivates me and push me to be nothing but the best. Times i wanted to give up, she didn’t allow me to. She keeps me grounded, listen to all my complaining, but she gives me good feed back and makes sure i move forward. Also, My cousin Michelle Pruitt for giving me my first caregiving job. That job basically made me realize that the healthcare field was definitely where i wanted to be.
