We had the good fortune of connecting with Reveng Sairany and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Reveng, what do you want your legacy to be?
I would love to be remembered as one of the trailblazers for trap music in the electronic music industry as well as someone who left the world in better shape than they found it, someone who used their talents and skills to help motivate others to grow and become the best version of themselves, and realize that anything is possible.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Our ability to mix Atlanta trap vibes with Arabian instruments has set us apart musically from the rest of the pack. I am proud to be able to champion music from my culture into modern electronic music. I have achieved and made it so far thanks to the help of my perseverance, drive and partner Michael Donahue. There were alot challenges along the way, I’ve found that if you keep your head down and continue grinding then all your hard work will pay off. One of the biggest challenges I’ve had to face is comparison and just challenging myself to level up in any aspect of my life on a daily basis. I would like people to know that even as a refugee from Kurdistan who got displaced at a young age, I was able to pursue my dreams, and that should motivate you to chase yours.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Botanical Gardens, High Mueseum, Believe Music Hall, Centennial Olmypic Park, Stone Mountain, Aquarium. I would take them to eat Fried Chicken at the plethora of places around Atlanta that serve it how it’s supposed to be, Gus’s world famous Fried Chicken, Hattie B’s and Fogo de Chao.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout Mayhem aka Anthony Rotella for paving the way for trap music in ATL, creating an enviornment where artists like us can continue to thrive.
