Meet RetroMind | Music Duo

We had the good fortune of connecting with RetroMind and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi RetroMind, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Both of us were in the same rock band when we were in school. We were also roommates for a couple of years and really had our foundation in music together. After school both of us went to different universities and didn’t perform together for several years.

Aditya:

After I graduated college, I realised that there was nothing apart from music that I knew much about. So, I decided to pursue music. Keshav had contacted me earlier for the same so I decided to make music with him. I also thought of a situation where I’m 60 and I never pursued music and it wasn’t particularly pleasant.

Keshav:

The most cliché thing made me write my first few songs. Struck down in love, I wrote some prose poetry, some acoustic pop stuff, but I always fell back on Aditya’s opinion about the compositions and the lyrics, just because I was so used to that. I thought we could develop this duo together and create something great, so I reached out to him.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We make music. The thing that makes us different from others is the fact that we don’t have any genre for the music we make. Each song is different in composition and production. The last song was a dream pop song and the upcoming song is an acoustic song.

We are proud of the fact that we like the music we make.

Although, both of us are in different countries at the moment, we love to jam and that leads to a bunch of compositions. This is the primary way we come up with compositions. But recently, we have been collaborating on compositions online.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Apart from these, the people we would like to mention our families and friends who have provided us with unconditional support. Also our school, Mayo College, deserves a shoutout as that is where both of us started playing together. The musical environment in the school was commendable as there were more than enough opportunities for us to perform and develop our skills.
