We had the good fortune of connecting with Reshod Bryant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Reshod, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Dothan, Alabama, Hylyda born and raised, we always said if you can make it here you can make it anywhere. We were faced with limited opportunities so you had to make the best of your hustle. Alabama, being known for country living is exactly right, but what people don’t see is how smart and intellectually comprehensive you have to be. Hustling for us meant by ANY means. For instance, growing crops in your own backyard and selling them, 11 year olds cutting neighbors grass for money, selling cows from a farm. and a host of other hustles. So when I finally relocated to Atlanta, GA I had an instant connection with hustling it was alot smoother bc of the opportunities here. I don’t mine putting in work, sweating for a greater outcome. Alabama taught me nothing is giving. Go get your destiny.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
First off my artist name being Hylyda (High-lighter) set me apart from day 1. I feel as if my music foundation has the best of both worlds. Blessed with the gift of putting together words, metaphors, similes, alliterations etc…with a southern delivery. Anything highlighted stands out. It takes real practice on your craft to become confident enough to display it. The road is a bumpy one to success. You will sacrifice more than you will gain in the beginning but you take those life lessons and apply the new information to form strategy. Me as a my everyday self is relentless. My brand is bold and brave.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Most fellas come to Atlanta for the strip clubs. So to show my friends a good time we would probably visit Magic City All guys like to shoot pool and have a beer or 2 or 5 lol. So any poolhall would suffice. Twin Peaks, has a great atmosphere eat great food, watch sports, and let waitresses sell us a fantasy as if they really like us lol. Top Golf is another absolutely fun place to hang out with the boys and tap into our competitive nature. All in fun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Phatzo and Clizzy Houston molded my craft/skill and rap. They deserve all the credit for bringing my artistry to life. Later, I brought my signature style and cadence to the table through trial and error. Capo was another competitive influence we made alot of noise with our project “Spittin Image”. That project brought my artistry to another notch. Last be not least, my woman Ingrid Jordan, supporting me giving me hope on this long journey keeping me sane through the downs. We hold the pieces to each other’s puzzle. We are making our dreams come true.
