We had the good fortune of connecting with Renesha Giles Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Renesha, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a parent the most important thing I have done to impact my children is allowing them to see that if you believe it you can achieve it. I share a lot with my three children, Drelen Giles 18, Jaimaris Giles 14, and Zaemiyas Jackson 12. They know how hard I work to make sure they are well taken care of. They have watched me open businesses that are successful. They know the value of a dollar. At a young age they have an entrepreneurial mindset. My goal was to teach them to always believe in themselves and set goals and achieve them.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business started in July 2016 and the doors to RJs opened August 26, 2016 and we are still ongoing successfully. In October 2011 my mother opened her restaurant R.Jays Soul Palace and we was open fir 3 years. Then I opened R.J’s Soulfood & More July 2016. We was already well known so the business took off immediately lol. What sets me apart from others is I DONT GIVE UP I’m always strategizing. I like challenges that’s what make me go hard. A restaurant is a hard business to keep a float but when you have great, delicious food and great customer service that’s a plus. There have been trials and tribulations but with the grace of GOD we pray and figure it out. I enjoy cooking and interacting with people. I like to be creative and I’m always thinking of ways to make things better. I would like the world to know that when you eat some RJs Soulfood & More you will be back again and again and again. We have customers from all over and they travel to eat with us. They mail us gifts on holidays and anniversaries now that’s love. Our hometown Mayor John Howard represents us so well he sends customers all the time that’s how you know your food and service is good. My next business that I just recently started is “ImaBo$$ Luxe Boutique”. I started this business February 2021 and open a store front for this business May 2022. I have always been into retail and always wanted my own clothing store. My daughter is into fashion so I was like why not. At my boutique I sell handbags, custom tshirts, clothing, lip glosses, accessories, shoes, body butters, oils, room sprays, bonets, cosmetics and more. We do Facebook lives throughout the week this allows online customers to shop live and they can shop on the website. So if you are near Monroe ga come Eat at RJs Soulfood & More and shop at ImaBo$$ Luxe Boutique where everything is neat. Also both of my businesses are located on the same shopping strip on opposite ends.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would say if you’re in the city eat at Fogo De Chao and hang out at The Ponce City Market.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout Atlanta to my mother Jacolia Manning is my inspiration. As a single mother she worked two and at times 3 jobs to make sure we was good. She has never failed me. She is a go getter that’s where my mentality and drive come from. She prays for everyone and she believes in me. My mother is my number 1 supporter. My short term goal is to retire my mom although she enjoy helping me I just want her to sit back and enjoy the fruits of her labor.
