We had the good fortune of connecting with Renee Walters and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Renee, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I am disabled an I also have a special needs toddler, and the typical 9-5 isn’t ideal for everything I have going on so I was trying to figure out ways to supplement my income. I have a love for charcuterie, and catering so I started making charcuterie boards for friends events and parties to showcase my skills and it took off from there.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I guess you can say I’m multi faceted, I’ve dabbled in many different areas career wise. I started out in Retail management, I did that for about 10 years until I was paralyzed from falling out of a ceiling,I was told I would never be able to walk again. While going through therapy learning to walk again, I started baking desserts and making holiday baskets to supplement my income. Then I went to school for neuromuscular therapy, it was dream to work in a hospital setting helping patience that suffered from chronic pain. I got pregnant shortly after school and my daughter suffered a brain injury during delivery, and my dreams were put on hold, but I never stopped dreaming. I really started to soul search, and tried to figure out what my purpose was, find out who I really was, the road has not been easy but everyday I strive to be better everyday. With all that happened to just live, do thing that make me happy, not be so much money driven, more so purpose driven. slowly but surely finding my niche. Once I started creating my different charcuterie products I felt better mentally, while putting them together I could feel the anxiety being lifted from me. Now I enjoy days making content for my social media pages, I also want to start a lifestyle vlog on youtube.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Omg my best friend that lives in Florida is visiting soon so I am preparing all things I want to do with her. The first day would be a girls night in, cooking listening to music, having girl talk over dinner and wine
the next day we definitely hit phoenix and dragons or hit up Crystal blue in little five points for a little shopping, lunch would definitely be at one of our favorite spots like fellini’s pizza, that’s one of our favorite spots. We probably would spend the rest of the time trying new food spots, she eats fairly healthy all the time so we would probably hit a lot of vegan spots. Rum punch brunch on Sunday is a definite and we would end the trip at Spa land in Gwinnett to relax.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It would be my husband and my close knit friend group, its about 8-9 of us, I don;t even have to name names they know exactly who they are. We are always there for each other and support each other in everything we do. I don’t know what I would do without them.
